I can't seem to keep several knives of the same category (size, action, steel etc) As soon as I get a knife that's superior to a knife I already have for the same use, I give away the previous. Examples: small folder: Kershaw half ton - 5.11 Alpha Scout folder - Benchmade minigrip, small fixed blade: buck packlite - boker fitz - ESEE Izula. As soon as I get a new knife, I lose interest in the one it's replacing, so I end up giving them away to my friends, relatives, teammates etc. I've had around 20-30 knives throughout my life, but all I have right now is Benchmade Mini Griptilian, ZT 0700, BM Bone Collector fixed blade, Izula and Buck Omni Hunter (kept for sentimental reasons). I don't think I can be a collector lol Am I the only one like that?

Im more inclined to give away a knife that I like that hasn't seen use rather than try to sell it. and its usually to a novice knife friend and it's usually a knife that they wouldnt know existed because the only folders or knives theyre buying are at gas stations or wal mart. its my way of trying to get them addicted to knives like I am. You know, share the misery and frustration.

I don't think it's weird at all. Get a new tool that completely eclipses an older tool and you aren't sentimentally attached to the old tool? Time to pass it along. Unless you are a collector amassing a large amount of knives (nothing wrong with that) it makes sense to clear out what you don't use. I do this myself and normally pass along knives to friends.

I just can't part with mine, the knives I gift always are bought for tthat specific purpose.
