Weird idea... or not.

I don't know if this exists or not but, here goes...

The idea is, I always carry change, etc. in my front pocket. The very pocket I intend to carry my new small classic custom graphic sebenza in (yeehaw). I've been thinking that it might be a viable idea to... instead of using the supplied pocket clip and subjecting my 'baby' to other metal objects in the pocket that...

I would like a small open topped sheath w/pocket clip that I could clip inside my front pocket and put my knife into it (w/o clip installed). The sheath or 'pouch' would keep the knife and other objects seperated and (hopefully) protect the knife from unneccesary damage.

Does anyone know of such a device or am I suffering from a post-60's thing here...? I hope I've described my intent well enough. The sheath should be open-topped, w/pocket clip (not big like a belt clip but small and inconspicuously sized), grippy on the outside and smooth on the inside (like suede leather, smooth side in) and not add too much thickness or bulk to the knife itself.

Any ideas or do I have to do a proof of design prototype here...?

Two comes to mind:

Good steers... keep 'em coming. So far, the William Henry comes closest to what I'm looking for. The mission wallet is another great idea but carries with it a bit different carry strategy. Any others come to mind?

The William Henry clip case is the only thing I have ever seen that would work. I've been thinking about trying one myself. I bought a Mission Wallet intending to carry my small woody Seb in there but I found it too much of a hassel to dig it out of my pocket, pull out the knife and then put it all back. It may not seem like much but when all I want to do is open the mail I don't want to go through all that trouble. So I've been carrying it just clipped to my pocket lately and find it much easier to use. This seems like a nice compromise offering added protection and ease of use. For only $20 I may have to give one a try.

Yep, I think you're right. The William Henry ClipCase™ looks pretty promising. I've done some searching and come up with a few places that want less than the $20 listed in the link above. The cheapest being here:

I'm pretty convinced I'm gonna give this a try. The largest (WHCC12) is listed for a 3-7/8" knife which would make it just big enough for a small sebbie. I'll do a follow up critique after figuring out if this works well or not.

Thanks for all the ideas.

Approaching the 'problem' from the other end, I have thought about a small coin purse to contain the change.

My LH pocket usually contains a Leatherman 'Micra', car valet key, safe key on a Photon I and a couple other things. Digging for change mixed in with that stuff isn't a practical option.

I forgot to mention the carabiner on the belt loop w/'switchblade' car key fob that resides in the top of that pocket also.

Creature of habit that I am, I don't want to change my routine for that side. Money in the RH, 'stuff' in the LH.

Thanks for the idea though...

Yeah...actually it would mess up with your routine...
I guess the coin purse is another option...
i've totally given up carrying change...i put 'em all in the cigarette butt container in the car...

I got caught once though 'cos some little girl jumped in front of me and started a christmas carol...after she finished i just stared blankly at her...she told me that usually people give her money...i just told her i didn't have change...i shook my right pocket...then she said 'what about the other pocket'...i did it with the left side...and she walked away...

Bloody embarrasing...

ANyway...i do carry a coin purse sometimes...has a small pocket so if a bill folded really small might be stuffed in it...
