Weird LM Sidekick

This seems strange.

I ordered / received a MultiTool from Amazon.com. I ordered the Sidekick model. Today I received a factory fresh LM box labelled "Sidekick." The tool inside appears to be a Sidekick EXCEPT the scales say "Wingman."

I know the two tools are close cousins. The model I received IS equipped like a Sidekick -- plain blade; saw; no scissors. There are no signs of wear on the tool, i.e., no signs of modification work to the tool.

I'm not unhappy, but I am puzzled.

Is this a common assembly error at Leatherman?

(I have photos but just realized I don't know how to post on this website. Maybe I don't have that privilege yet?)

Very strange indeed. There are known factory errors from Leatherman in the past, but this is the first I have heard about one from the Sidekick/Wingman line. It could very well be a factory error. I'n the same sense it could also easily be a Wingman with the tools switched out. It is very easy to switch the outside opening tools on the Sidekick/Wingman line with no signs of doing so. I would only consider it a factory error if it were in a clamshell packaging as you would know 100% it was a factory error. As long as your happy all is well, but there is no definite explanation unless YOU personally opened it from a clamshell packaging. Hope this could help.

No clamshell packaging. I received it in a Leatherman cardboard box with leather sheath, carabiner, and crisp (never unfolded) factory brochure of all the models.

It was delivered direct from Amazon warehouse vs third-party.

This won't cause me to lose any sleep. :)

Stuff happens, and I bet that the wrong part ended up in the wrong bin, you know?
