Weird smudge on LCD, how to get it out?

My laptop's screen has a strange smudge on it. It won't come off with Windex or some electronic equipment cleaner stuff I have. If you run your finger over it, it feels normal, so I really hope something hasnt somehow gotten under the plastic. I don't think that's it though since this smudge is about an inch up from the bottom of the screen. I'm at a loss as to how to get it out. Is there some sort of mild plastic polish I could try? I don't want to damage the screen obviously. Thanks for your help.

I use "Apple Polish", I am not joking. A lap top screen cleaner. I also use a screen protector and a key board skin.

i had a fujitsu notebook which had a similar problem
there were specks of something on the screen
i tried to clean them off, until i realised they were on the other side of the plastic
i took the screen protector apart and cleaned it out

Thanks I'll try some of this polish and if that doesn't help I'll have to find a way to take it apart and clean the back.

Use isopropyl alcohol 70% (get it at any drugstore) and wipe with a cotton ball. If you need to apply a little more pressure use a Q-tip.
