A few hours ago, I heard some weird animal sounds in the neighbor's tree. It sounded like cats on steroids...meaner and deeper. The branches were moving aroundpretty good. It could only be raccoons or opossum. I'm guessing raccoons fighting. Am I right?

fighting or getting it on.. they can make some nasty noises in lieu of a barry white album

I'll bet on opossums. They can sound like banshees when they're screeching at each other.

You would be surprised of the sounds a normal house cat can make. I hear one that sounded like Ru-paul in the back yard. And its orange!

Could be a couple of liquored up Forum members. I've heard they can sound like that sometimes.;)

Nahhh... couldn't be.

LOL. I had a mean domestic shorthair cat as a teenager. Saw him fight cats on the block, etc. Heard all the weird mating & fighting sounds. Whatever was in that tree was definitely not a cat.

Are you sure it wasn't other forum members? I'm just saying...

Raccoons or possums definitely make weird sounds; rather, they're not as familiar as other animals.

One of the most blood-curdling things we heard at our house--about five months ago at 4 in the morning--a possum got into a skunk hole.

Either one of those is a wild sound. The two of them together? Not Of This Earth.

Skunk won, although he didn't spray--apparently, they're not keen on spraying inside their own hidey-holes.

Sounds like coons, I hear that alot in the woods while deer hunting in the evening time.

So funny. Right now a storm is coming in and the wind is picking up and the Raccoons are cackling up in the Eucalypsis down the street.
They make all kinds weird noise.

During certain times of the year squirrels make the strangest, extremely loud wailing sound. Got a flashlight?

I'd go with Owls, though it's not really the time of year for them to be fighting over trees and women. There were two fighting in a tree near my house and it sounded like women screaming, cats wailing, all kinds of strange noises. More noise than actual fighting. The Female was sitting in another tree just watching.

At times it really sounded like someone was getting murdered.
