Welcome back, Tom.

I have not intended to step on anyone's toes by answering a few slam dunk questions posted by newbies, but I hate seeing someone visit bfc.com for the first time and not get some kinda response.

Didn't last long and didn't answer some of the more serious questions that have been posed here over the last few weeks.

I guess customers can be such a pain to deal with. It seems as if Camillus is trying to solve that headache by getting rid of them.

Phil,
Thank you for welcoming me back to BladeForums.

I am retired from Camillus after working for that company for many years. My experience and knowledge covers mainly older knives made by Camillus. I will try and answer any postings on BladeForums that cover the knives that I am familiar with. The folks at Camillus have allowed me access to their manufacturing records that cover the early 1900's through the late 1980's. If there is a question on BladeForume regarding a knife that I can not answer I will research Camillus' records during my visits to the factory.
I have meet many wonderful "Knife People" through the years including Dennis Ellingsen, Frank Trazska, Mark Zalesky, Bob Palmer, B.K. Brooks and many more. They have requested information on certain knives and I always tried to find the answers to their questions. In the process I learned a great deal about knives from them and the passion that surrounds knives.

Congrats on your retirement, Tom. So that explains where you've been. Let me thank you for taking the time... it is now your own time.. to answer the questions about your company's grand old knives.

I cannot think of any reason why Camillus knives are not more 'collectible' than they are. I was hopeful the 'Collector's Club' would inspire more of that.

I'm glad that you've returned to us,

Phil

I use and collect Camillus Electricians' Knives. What are the best years of manufacture for steel quality? I notice that the stamping font varies somewhat amongst my knives. Is there a date of manufacture reflected in the different fonts? Since these fine old knives are mass-produced, some of them are very difficult to open and the parts matchup and finish are not of high quality. This is no matter to me. I really enjoy cleaning them up and providing a lot of TLC to bring them to showcase appeal. I just like these knives! Please tell us more about Camillus Electrician Knives. Thank You, Robert Russell timberrr59@yahoo.com:)
