Hey guys!

I've spent the last two to three years cycling through darn-near every framelock, linerlock, axislock and triadlock knife I could find.....I won't bore you with the list but it has been quite the slog! I started with a regular griptilian and worked my way up the financial pyramid to the two and three thousand dollar beauties, but have finally come back to my first true knife love.....Strider SmF!!! I have sold every other folder I owned and finally got back to my core passion......cpm154 satin blade, green lego and stonewashed lock side. Brand spankin' new with a ridiculously hair-sharp blade and perfect geometry........it's just molded perfectly to my hand!! I want to thank everyone who sold me a knife, bought a knife from me and answered my myriad of stupid questions; it was a tortuous trip but the destination was worth every penny and sleepless night!! I've also been lucky to make some great friends on the fixed-blade side with the truly gifted and special makers on this forum.....that obsession shows no signs of letting up but at least my folder fix has been slaked!!

Congrats Jay, sounds like you finally found your perfect folder.... for this week. ;)

Thanks Scott.....in the past I would've agreed whole-heartedly!! I was pretty much like a spastic chichuahua when it came to knives.....no attention span. I finally realized that the trip was meant to allow me to try it all....and you know better than most that I did that in spades!! I will say I'm glad I finally found the "ONE".......I hope the rest of the knife-crazed world will be as lucky.

Yes if that is truly the case, you should consider yourself fortunate... now back to my search!

I am fortunate in many ways........I finally found simplicity and perfection!! Good luck in your search my brother.....

I'm happy for you. Not sure whether I'm envious. The voyage itself is an adventure, although my wallet is drying up.
I do have a new-in-baggie DGG SMF in CPM-154 in the safe, just in case that's where I want to end up. I have vacillated between CRK and Strider for some time, and presently carry a Zaan, with several large Sebbies in reserve. I have no complaints of either manufacturer. I am still on the Search, but have tired a bit and short-of-wind. Slowing down.
Glad to see your note; lets me know there is an end to the trail after all...
Of course, you've alluded that you're still involved with the fixed blade side of this nonsense. :)
as...unfortunately, am I...

Congrats, that's one expensive trip to find your knife. I can relate, except i can't really narrow it down to one, but I've made a lot of eliminations. For me i'm hoping to stop spending on knives as of today, I've made enough purchases to fill my needs i think, at least for a long while.....i hope. If anything i'll be getting rid of a few, just a few though.

Thank you......I would say that I'm both satisfied at the conclusion and a bit envious of those just starting the voyage!! I wouldn't change a thing as the quality people and knives made each stop on the journey both memorable and enjoyable!! I've been down the road of CRK......loved every minute of it; though the 'Zaan is the one I never tried. Their offerings are truly spectacular......you just can't go wrong with any of Chris' work. I should probably say that my fixed-blade obsession has morphed into a love of the custom......that is all I own and all I want any more. The ability to realize....in steel.....my mind's vision is something that scratches the itch of the frustrated woodworker in me!! Best of luck my friend....and thanks again.

So my wife has told me on numerous occasions!! I guess as I've gotten older I've learned....better....the art of simplification. I'll probably never totally purge the spastic chihuahua in me.....maybe it is better to limit my options??!!

Thank you for that blast from the past my southern border brother!! If you're ever in the southwestern corner of the Granite State let me know.......

A blast from the past...
About 15 months ago, these were mine. Now, they are all in the wind...too bad as I really loved a couple of those blades...the beauty, not the cutting. I've never carried anything other than a CRK for quite some time. Years ago, was a Caly3 for the office, and I'm still a confirmed Spydie fan-boy, although all I do with them is buy/sell/trade/gaze fondly.
The Sng at seven o'clock was, by far, my favorite of the litter.

I've had all but the 'Zaan and the baby huey.....love the Striders regardless!! I've served many years in the military, been a federal investigator and am now a member of the State of Vermont's Department of Corrections.....knives can save lives....just like guns!! Practice with what you love....love what you practice with......train like you fight.....in the end training will save your life!!!

Great news, Jay! Congratz!
I have just done the same thing but with an SnG FFG Tanto that I just got from BF member, Dave. Thank you, Dave. And, in my favorite color G10, Coyote Tan.
Strider makes the finest folder designs ever.

Thanks Rolf!! I've had a number of SnGs.....loved them all.....but the SmF is more fitting to my hand!! Agreed that Strider makes the most bomb-proof folder available....bar-none!!!

The knife honeymoon feeling is the best. Congrats.

Personally, as a veteran, I won't buy a Strider due to Mick's history. As a man that has made/makes my own fair share of mistakes and been forgiven, I wish him all the best, he makes some sick folders.

I'm also a veteran and I've chosen to buy a great knife.....and ignore the reputation! I completely understand your perspective....and respect it as well.......the knives are great by the way!!
