I just got my HR. Pardon me, cause I'm over-excited!

My first impressions: A very solid knife, the coating is very thick, and the edge is definatly there. By far the weridist feeling handle material I've felt on on a knife. Its not overly smooth nor is it rough. I don't believe my hands will slip on this. The leather sheath is very nice! Good and thick. Fits the knife very firm, and a little hard to get out, but I reckon it will adjust over use. Better to have it tight then loose. The sheath is very high quality, and simple. Thich belt loop to it too. I got this knife has my drop point hunter, as I do a lot of odd jobs, and go sick of carrying my BK-10 in my big, along with neck knives, ect. Got old and heavy fast. This HR replaces all of them, as the 1 knife I always carry, that won't fail. The spine is just right for thickness. I've extreamly pleased with this knife, and if you don't have one, get one!!

So whats next for me and the swamp? Well, I've been eyeing that rat tail, AND I just got my refund...Hmmmmmm..... ;)

Thanks To Erin for being very responsive and thanks to the rest for you for answering all of my questions. It really made my day!

Now I've off to test it out, and show my friends why they should put that that cold steel poop down, and get a rat! :D Even get to test it out as I am putting a resturaunt back together.

I officially welcome you to the Swamp!

Get a Battle Rat, and you can have even more fun taking a restaurant apart. ;)

Congrats and glad you like it--it really is a supremely useful knife. I know what you mean about the handle. I talk to so many people who say "I hate rubber handles!" and refuse to try Rats. What's funny is, they're resistant to the idea that you can have different types of rubber, when they can turn around and talk intelligently (and sometimes not) about different types of steel, plastic, wood etc. and how they have their own traits and are good at different things. With all my friends and fellow outdoor enthusiasts, and people here on the forums, I've talked to exactly two people who didn't like the Rat handles after actually trying them. One of them has absolutely huge hands, and acknowledges that few factory knife handles feel good to him, and the other absolutely never uses his knives--he just buys them and puts them away, and says he likes the softer feel of kraton.

Anyway, my resiprine-rant overwith, enjoy your new Howler and the building work. Any day you get to saw, clamp, and hammer something is a good day.

Thanks!!

Oh yeah, I love the handle material. After get kraton wet, and squeezing to see the water pour out like a sponge, never again. Just after I read SR won't retain liquid!

Damn I'm so hyped!! Such a sweet knife, I'll never buy another brand again!

I love this knife so much, I'm gonna touch myself! :D

Congrats on the HR, I'm glad it arrived safely.

You guys are right about the Resiprene C it is a great material but very hard to describe (I know I've tried ;) ) However, for those that might want something different..... ;):p

See you at Blade :D:D

I will second the need for the Battle Rat.
I had one, traded it, missed it, and have another in the mail! Rats are awesome for the price and the people are not to bad to deal with either. Now all you need to do is jump on board our MINI waggon! We DO want the mini Eric!

Cerberus

Eric, I know you're excited about them, but I'm going to tell you one more time that I really don't think the leather handles covered in natural rat fur are going to be that big of a hit...

I know! I'm so lost as to what to get next.

Rat tail I'm kind of partial to. A little back up knife, PR knife so to speak.

Or Do I get a battle rat and keep that in my bag that goes everywhere with me....

Or do I get Paul's Ratchet? The hatchet from hell....

You guys weren't kidding. I thought I'd get this HR for my 1 knife carry I everywhere that I can do everything. Now all I can think of his........What next?

I used my HR tonight, I drove it threw a 2x4 as it was stuck under a freezer that no one could reach. Can't believe how far it went in, and still it dragged out. I looked the HR over, and I swear it said "Oh I'm sorry, did you sneeze?"
