G'day, I notice there is a new Aussie member.. just joined ..'Jamo' as he invited me to be his friend in the BF friend section... I am aware he is from Western/ South Queensland..cattle and horse country....and they breed them tough as Texans out there....I am also aware he uses a Schrade Folding Hunter daily in his cattle de-knacking duties and around his beloved heavy horses.. and just loves USA Schrades as he received his first UH 897 from his Mum when he was barely out of liquid form......he's a bit uncouth, rough and ready, swears a tad, and drinks Bundy Rum and XXXX Beer to excess so I am proud to call him an Aussie. I am also aware he and his wife are about to be presented with child Number 6? and I suggest he should now hang up his boots and concentrate on knife collecting.. .We havn't met yet <just on the internet> but hope to in the near future I would like to welcome him and any other Aussie Schradaholics of which I know there are many from Schrade queries I receive.......welcome Jamo and tell us about how you use your favourite Schrades?...Hoo Roo.

Might be that tough horses aren't the only thing Aussies have borrowed from that state. I think the state motto is "every thing is bigger in Texas!" :D
I'd love to welcome another Aussie into the forum.

Hello UL and Irv ,i have heaps of questions as i am only a pup or Greenhorn as you call it .I now have an adult favorite 125OT courtesy of UL that doesn't leave my side and the more i work it the better it gets ,been trying to get some for my sons when they come of age ,they are hard to get and expensive thanks UL .The 125OT has a great feel and balance and can be used on so many applications that you can imagine on a property full of cattle . Top nutter not to bulky and you have heaps of blade to run . As a kid i used to check out schrade all the time and had Schrade Walden price list under my pillow ,i tried to collect more after my UH 897 which when i purchased i argued with the produce merchant that i wanted a new knife and this was someone else's as it had his name on it Uncle Henry yea yea no secrets with me .I knew of collecting but didn't trust myself not to use and my dad said i only need one good knife .Every week or two when little i used to go check for more new Schrades ,funny that and here i am now thanks to UL Regards and chat later Jamo

Thanks Jamo, This 6' big Aussie bruiser calls me UL for Uncle Larry..ha! Turns out he has been a Schradeholic for much longer than me and actually uses them in his horse team work..which included driving professionally a large team of Clydesdale horses all over 16 hands...well known for driving them for display in the Brisbane Expo and cuts harness and ball bags with USA Schrade....and now a collector with over 90 Schrades. I see he just purchased a very scarce Schrade Walden Texas Parer and sheath from 1964 on Fleabay which no doubt will see some steak work....welcome Jamo. Hoo Roo

Welcome Jamo. Glad to see you in here. Love to see a picture of those Clydesdales. Along with some blades of course.

Thanks you blokes , i'm with great company thankyou .I must have slipped up as i usually don't like talking about myself only cattle ,kids, horses ,working dogs, fishing boating, hunting and most importantly one of man's greatest and long used tools the knife .I'd say UL i'm not even in the same boat when it comes to knives with you mate ,going to a produce and collecting flyers and drooling all over the counter doesn't make me a Schradespert only an envios young skinny kid ,all my mates used to call me Blue Dog "all ribs and dick" whenever i went to talk to a pretty girl they'd howl .I have some photo's hawk and will try to post my ex still has all my others but i have the kids .regards to all Jamo ,new greenhorn bladeform addict ..Hi Dave hope you can all put up with me ,I don't mind having a laugh and talking about mans greatest most used tool "before the wheel" and other thing, the knife , Just like how a carpenter has and uses top tradeline tools we to have our top well balanced collector pieces of history whi....I don't have to sell it to you blokes , just drifted off in thought then ha ha .
