This is New Year's Eve. Tomorrow is the second new moon after the winter solstice, marking the first day of the year of the fire pig.

Red Flower and I calculate our anniversaries on the lunar calendar, so tomorrow will also be our 3rd anniversary.

Here's the "fire pig" that will live on our mantel this year. It was carved and painted by a by Zapotec Indian artist from Oaxaca, Mexico.

Happy New Year! My school had a New Year's dinner last night. Good chinese food, red envelopes with coins in them, oranges, you name it. Great time, and lots of red!

actually... if youre born this year youre sposed to be very very very lucky :rolleyes:

for those born in the year of the tiger, rat, snake and non "fire" pig its sposed to be a tough year :(

unfortunately i was born in 1983..... and that makes me a "water" pig :eek:
its going to be a very very rough year for me :grumpy:
