I went hiking with JV3 and GoNadz this weekend in the Jungle Habit in West Milford NJ. It is a very interesting place. I opened as a drive-through safari in the early 70's and closed a few years later. It seems huge just from the short we walked compared to a map of the place I've seen.

Here is sadly the only pic of me and the bk9 I was using that day. I love that knife btw.

And here is a link to the W&SS thread with more pictures.

you put your knife in the snow? don't you know that makes the snow EXPLODE? my god! that voids the snow warranty! geez :)

ah, invasive bamboo, gotta love it.

Hey Riz_Aaroni....

Looks like you all had a great time.....Enjoyed your pix and really enjoyed the other thread as well... Thanks for the post(s).......You probably do not want to know that it looks like we got no snow now.....Yeah, Yeah........Bamboo sure cuts funny when it's frozen, does it not ????.....Always nice to have a patch around ......

Thanks again.....

All Best...

You call that a jungle? You need an Man's knife, for the jungle.

Just kidding. I never saw bamboo in the snow before. Looks good to me! :D

Sorry, most of the pics of you were you rockin' out with the Gransfors Bruks. Playing lumberjack looked like a lot of fun, and I'm definitely adding one of thoe Scandi axes to my To-Purchase list! Here's a pic from "base camp" that shows the trusty BK9 waiting patiently and hanging ready-for-action from the tree.

I was resting/waiting for the snow to explode! Ironically I had no rust on the blade after the trip, but I wind up getting some after a quick trip in my backyard.

Snow and bamboo is pretty weird, weireder yet that it was surprisingly green. It was definitely cold, though no frozen from what I could tell.

As for being sick of the snow, not yet. Ice is another story and I am definitely sick of it. The snow froze and formed a layer of ice I had to walk/skate/fall on. Just fluffy stuff would have been alright. Though honestly I can't wait for warmer weather and/or no snow.

Last bit, looks like I have a load in my pants in the third pic you posted GoNadz. :D

Are you resting?;):D

he's prospecting for oil! :D

really weird seeing bamboo and snow together.....!

great pic

jungle habitat is in the website "weird nj". it certainly is a weird place.

that scandinavian size really is the perfect size between packability and raw chopping ability.

by the way, i pulled the trigger and ordered the kifaru zxr with the optional xtl top lid :o i figured half of it's capacity will contain booze and the resulting amputation first aid kit for aaron alone when we mix-up booze and axe on the next trip
