I have been teaching myself to weld through books and practice. I think it might be to my advantage to take some classes too. At the very least I could see first hand what some things, and have my work evaluated by an expert. I am also sure that I have plenty to learn yet, and can learn things I can't learn easily on my own or from a book. Does anybody here know where I can take a welding course in NYC area? I have some problems though, because I am a full time student in the day, and work part time at night. Basically this leaves me nights or weekends to take a welding class. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Let me tack on one more question while on the subject. I have not got around to buying the MIG kit for my welder yet, so I am welding flux core only. I can get some pretty good looking welds, but get some imperfections where the slag cools over the weld. Is this at all avoidable while using flux core wire? Or is it something that I should expect to some extent? Thanks again, I appreciate all the help you have already given me.
