Just built a new welding forge today. Darren Ellis will be posting the tutorial that I made on his site in the very near future. The pic'c are of it running and the floor. I put fire bricks and on the sides kitty litter covered with Satanite. The lining will last me over a year if I do not have any Hammer-Ins here.

Nice George. I like the way you rigged the tubing to blow the heat away in front of the forge. Just did the same to mine. I haven't tried covering the litter with Satanite yet. Gonna have to give it a try.

Hey IG,

What is the body of the forge made of? It's not just the fire brick is it?
Mark: It a 8" x 16" pipe lined with Inswool & coated with ITC100. The back of the forge has fire bricks put together with Satanite.

Hey IG, how thick of a layer of Inswool? Also, you mentioned kitty litter... is this just for the bottom of the forge?

Higgy: It is 1" Inswool. The kitty litter is to fill the gap between the fire brick floor and Inswool, this keeps the flux from getting on the wool.

Ah, I see. Do you have trouble with cats crapping in your forge now? :D :footinmou
