Welding with a Atlas forge

I think I have seen that the forged get hot enough to weld. Is there anything I should do to make it get up to welding heat? I'm wanting to try making a small tomahawk in it.

I think your problem will be the size of a tomahawk blade more than the temperature of the forge. If you have questions about the forge, just ask Charles at Atlas. He is a good chap and will answer all your questions.

From what I know:
The mini will hit 2350F, which is enough to forge weld a knife blade. Besides the larger mass of a hawk billet, the chamber is only 2.5" round, so I doubt a hawk will be a good project for it.
The Graham is currently out of stock while Charles is working on a design change.

I know I saw a video of him doing a small Damascus billet in one.
I was just going to mess around with something pretty small with a 2" face. It will just be a toy for myself and if I have to I can just TIG weld the blade to the eye.

For a hawk with a 2" wide blade, make a 1" wrap billet with a 1/4" bit in the wrap and forge out the blade. You could do that in a Mini.

Well, this got scary hot. 304L Stainless 1" pipe canister, melted part of the canister, overheated the billet. Again, scary hot.

I have just used it for heat treatment mostly. Is there anything I should plan on doing if I want to weld? I really do like my little forge and can't wait for your anvils to be ready. I hope I have the cash ready when they drop.
