So,3 days after receiving my bk7,i came across a deal i couldn't pass and now a bk5 is on it's way to my mailbox...i doubt i ll have much use for it but again, too good of a deal.any of you beckerheads could tell me if a trade for a bk2 or bk9 seems fair?
I appreciate the help and keep posting amazing pics.

Try the 5. You may find you really like it.
It's an exceptional blade!
As for your question about trade value: Beckers are priced fairly even across the entire line. I believe that would translate to each knife having a very similar trade value.

Yeah...i was trying to lie to myself...i ll probably end up keeping it and buy the other shortly after...!

Dark side, glad to see the bug has bitten another. I don't use my five much (probably because I have a 15 & 9 and a 2 on the way :) ) other than it looks scary as heck. I'm expecting my 2 in about 12 hours at my doorstep...then probably going to order a 16 immediately. Wish I ordered them at the same time :/..... Oh well, I'll just get to open another Becker package soon!!

Johnny is right, they seem to be pretty evenly priced with the exception of say a 6 or 1. It seems that it's all about which stile you want, I'm sure one of these fine folks would be up for a trade for a 5. Heck, I would and still might if I mess it up in the customizing process. Knock on wood....

Johnny... That's EXACTLY what I'm going for on my 5! Just remember, emulation is the highest form of praise!! Beautiful knife man!

Best of luck and welcome darkside

I've never handled a 5, but I have nothing but praise for the 2. Most recently used mine to break down some branches in my yard that had fallen after a storm. Worked as well, or better, than any hatchet I've ever used.

Thank you all for your input...i don t feel the need for an 8inch cooking blade, but i do agree, they re pretty and i m a sucker for that...i was hoping to trade it for something i can use and fuck with...i ll wait for the mail and decide what to do.

Been actually considering a BK-5 for kitchen duty mostly. Admittedly, it would not get used much. I suspect cutting watermelons would be one of its primary activites. I just picked up a BK-15 and as of yet it has not cut anything.

I just got a new chainsaw for "breaking down some branches" in my yard. I looked for a Becker brand chainsaw, but couldn't find one. :D

I used my 5 for food prep exclusively until I bought the Becker/Esee cooking knives. The 5 has become my outdoor grill/bbq knife. It excels at any job you give it.
