Well done, Benchmade service

I had a black Bugout, which I loved to carry in my pocket, but there were a few problems:

1. The blade was really tight, and there was excess friction opening and closing

2. The blade was a teeny-tiny bit off centered when closed (not a problem at all, just a cosmetic issue for someone with OCD like me)

3. The thumb studs fell out.

I sent it back to Benchmade for free sharpening and attention to these other minor issues, and they sent it back - 100% perfect - with a nice blue pouch, to boot.

The blade doesn’t drop freely, but it’s a tad looser and exactly how I want it.

Nice job, Benchmade!

Good to hear you got everything done right.
To be honest I would have done all those myself but you had the right to
send it in and BM performed.

I prefer when my Axis lock blades don't drop freely while still being incredibly smooth to operate. It's a fine balancing act to get the action I prefer on an Axis lock, which is why I invested in some nice torx drivers. I'd say it sounds like Benchmade adjusted yours to perfection. I'm sure it will break in more to your liking as time goes on, so don't fret about it and just use it.

Same here. I want just an almost imperceptible bit of resistance where the tiniest flick sends the blade home. I don't like a floppy feel. But that's just me.

I sometimes get new knives and tighten the pivot. Starting a little tight and letting the knife break in naturally leads to a nice smoothness and no blade play.

Glad Benchmade took care of you OP. Their customer service is highly regarded.

I usually let my Axis lock knives break in for a week or so before I adjust them. After that I typically end up tightening them up exactly for the effect you mentioned. I really like the ones with accessible screws on the stop pin, that really lets you set the pivot tension perfectly.
