I went and visited Rob Frink yesterday and came home with a KMG-1 with a flat platen and the rotary platen also. Rob has a great operation there and is a heckuva nice guy to boot.

I am in the process of setting it up today with a 1.5hp motor and step pulley arrangement. Should be running later this morning and I am anxious to give it a go.

I have 11 years of use on my old Pro Cut II and it will still see use in the shop.

Hello Greg! It was certainly very nice to meet you! You are welcome to come over to the shop anytime...heck , bring an anvil and forge and we'll make a few knives some weekend.

Thank you for the kind words and I truly hope you enjoy your new grinder.

Sincerely,
Rob

I finally met Rob at the Blade Show. You are right...He is a great guy and his work is second to none. Someday I will have a Rob Frink creation. I have used his flat grinding set-up at Tom Ferrys shop, It was so smooth I couldnt believe it. I ground most of my MS quillion dagger (below) on it. The long platen and anti-vibration gives a feeling of confidence. It really is "Built like a tank"

Just got it fired up and all I can say is WOW

I ground a test blade with it and then switched to the rotary platen to clean up the 80 grit lines....unbelievable!!! This thing is so smooth!

Kudos to Rob!!!!

Rob's a first class gent and makes excellent equipment!
I'm going to get a rotary platent soon.

Greg, I'm running a ProCut also, I wouldn't think twice about switching to one of Rob's machines! I wish I could!

Here's a pic of the rig.

Forged a Combat Special this afternoon and ground it on the new machine. It is awesome!
