I'm looking into an aftermarket sheath for my BK-7. I don't really like leather, and I was about to have my friend make me a kydex one, but I saw the Texas Hunt Co. sheath.

Does anyone use these for their BK-7?? Do they fit?? They say they go up to a 6'', so I am kinda worried. Also, what can the pouch hold?? Let me see some pics if you have them. I'm sure this has probably been talked about before.

I also want a sharpening stone, what are your thoughts on the Fallkniven Dc4 and Dc3??? Any other recommendations??

Thanks guys,

-Josh.

I didn't realize this, but there was a new post with pictures of it with someones BK-7. He said he used the boiling water trick... Is that for retention?

search on guyon's posts, esp with keyword sheath... he's the one that found the sheaths for us. they fit the 7, the 5, and the 3 just fine.

Got one. Love it. It's the long sheath (on clearance) and it fits the BK7 fine after a little boiling water treatment on liner to fit the ramp better. I keep a large SAK, a firesteel and some PJ cotton balls in the pouch. I'll post some pics if you'd like but Guyon has posted several of his. It's what made me get one and I'm thrilled pootless with mine.

I have the brown one. Someone in another thread asked for a pic yesterday. I'll do that tonoght and I'll put one here too. I modified the insert by cutting a slit in the edge with my leatherman saw. Works good.

riz_aaroni gets the nod from me for bringing them to our attention. He posted up about the sheaths in the Becker photo thread.
Apparently, there were shorts too at some point, but I missed out on those.

The modification (boiling water trick) is mainly necessary on the 7 because of the thumb ramp.
Here's a key post that explains the process: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=9042223&postcount=7

I'm eyeballing the Spec Ops Basic Modular sheath for a bottle holder kit I'm trying to build. I got the bottle holder (thanks for the heads up Guyon), the bottle, my Olicamp cup, and a few other things. Now, I need to get an OD spec ops sheath, to finish the build, then I'll pack it, pic it, and show ya'll what I've done. Trying to get this done before April 8th, I wanna have it for a class I'm doing.

I mentioned your sheath project to mistwalker today via PM. Glad to see it's coming along.
