No, I really can't blame Dave. I've often thought I should pick up one of these Blacksmith Shop knives and so I finally did it. It's got its own kind of special meaning. It's sort of a classic, symbolic, "Where it All Began" must-have if you really love Bucks.

:)

I have one of those with a scroll at left instead of the anvil on the stump. Mine has Macassar ebony scales.

I've always wondered if this is an accurate depiction of the first shop, or is that a romanticized version of it. Was there really a general store and PO next to it? And was the H H BUCK really positioned larger than word BLACKSMITH on the sign? Just wondering.

Apparently there's at least a couple of versions of this.

Mine is numbered and in a glass-topped wooden box.

As to the other questions.....I suspect that there was some creative/artistic license involved in the making of the Blacksmith Shop picture, but I'll defer to the Buck Historian.

:D

That's a Beauty BG! Love that etching
What is the burl ? Looks real nice !

I think they call it Elderwood Burl.

This is not quite as red as some I've seen......which is fine with me.

Pretty wood.

See you Sunday... ITE

See.....these guys show off their fancy stag and one of a kinds and five of a kind rarities and it just sucks me deeper and deeper into the gold rush.

I'm so easily led astray.

:D

Phew! I thought you were talking about Golden Retrievers. My sister's GR pup ran into a tree and broke its neck, thankfully before it could pass on whatever genes it had.

LOL!

You have to beware when buying golden retrievers. They've been overbred. There are still some good ones around, but not just any example will do.

At least we know the Goldie knives won't do anything stupid.

:)
