I made the "oops" of stopping at a Walmart today, or maybe the "oops" was going to the sporting goods department?

They had one Buck 50th Anniversary 110 left. While it cost more than any other knife I have ($40 with tax) I bought it. I figured 'what the heck, I've wanted one since 1970 ... and it should make a nice co-EDC with the Buck 389 I ordered yesterday.'

So far, the only negative is the sheath. It came with a black ballistic nylon sheath. I prefer the more traditional leather one. Oh well, the Uncle Henry LB7 sheath will work until I can get a leather Buck sheath.

The blade seems to be centered at least as well as my Chinese made LB7, I don't see any gaps between scales and liners or the back spring, no detectable blade play when open, but it does have a small amount of side to side play when folded. (Is that normal?)

Congratulations on the new Buck 110; give that ballistic nylon sheath a chance - I was surprised at how well made the one I got with my Buck is - no worries about that green corrosion either. OH

I don't think I have a Buck knife that doesn't have a tiny amount of blade movement when closed, if you look for it. Maybe there are some that don't have any movement at all though ... dunno.

Good choice, I held one before but the size a bit much, thats why I have a custom shop 112 on order
4 weeks have passed since ordering, should've bought one from the store, just kidding :o

Congrats! Love the 110! And the 112 too. I like the nylon sheath cause i can put it horizontal and its real comfy. Just make sure if you do this that it snaps closed real good and firm, don't wanna lose your new toy. Be forewarned though, they can be addictive. I have 2 110's and 2 112 rangers and two more 112's en route ;)

Congrats on the 110, afishhunter!:thumbup:
Should go well with any of those canoes you're waiting for. :D

Everybody needs a 110. It's a really wonderful knife.

I got a more modern one this past year. I'm mad that I waited this long. There's something about the old ones but in terms of every day use, I like the newer ones a whole lot more. The beveled edges and the blade shape are all improvements to me.

I wish they made a bare-head version with Paperstone scales. And a drop point version.

Took me 40+ years to get one too. Consider that probably the best 40 bucks you've ever spent. While mine does not get carried daily, it is readily close by in the truck if needed. I liked mine so much I ordered one from the Custom Shop for my 50th birthday a couple of years ago. I think they are one of the best values of all time.

Welcome to the dark side!! :). Don't worry about the blade play when closed, all of mine do that but lock up like a tank when opened.

Interesting scabbard there, Pima Pants. I've never seen one that opened the knife before.

My original one from 1992 would go from one side to the other almost from the first day, and my barely broke in 112 has a little in the closed position. My brand new 50th 110 has non opened or closed and is just off center closed. All of my lock back Bucks lock up like a bank vault!! I'm so glade I got another 110! This is the true folding bowie and the handsomest of lock back clip blades. I'm not a truck driver but I think if I was this would be a great one to have!
