Sometimes a knife comes across my path that just grabs me by the collar and says "yes I am the one." I've been looking at the GEC 15 Boys knife for about 6 months. I've found that I've been particularly drawn to the Barehead 2013 models for their stately minimalism. I usually like spear blades, but of late I've been liking a nicely done clip more and more. And while I'm personally a fan of 2 Blade Jacks with a pen secondary, when I'm on this minimalist kick, a slim, single blade Barehead Jack can become a quite convincing option. And who am I kidding, I'm always gonna have a smaller peanut or such on board for discrete tasks and situations anyways. At first I wanted Ebony, again for its classic, no nonsense, durability and elegance, but after all I've been unable to take my eyes off this NifeBrite thats just been floating there on CK for months and months.

For whatever reason I've kept putting it off, picking up other knives, telling myself I dont really need or want it, but after a rough day and night in which I narrowly avoided the resurgence of an old addiction (one much more harmful to body and spirit than pocket knives) I pulled the trigger and ordered it. When I ordered it a little bird told me I could watch this little buddy glow on my nightstand as I fall asleep each night. Isn't that long pull clip and barehead just lovely?

Just in case that one isn't enough for you, there's a fresh run of #15s coming out shortly in various handles and blade configurations.

Good on you for not falling to old addictions and congratulations on a beautiful knife. I too like the minimalist look, though I find myself buying more ornate knives.

Nice! Good for you avoiding the "slip"!!! Yes there are other #15's coming up real soon. Do yourself a favor and pick up a 2 blade ebony. The #15 is a GREAT pattern.

Good job on not falling back to a bad habit. I just bought the exact same knife and it arrived Wednesday. I bought some Mammoth Ivory to replace the glow handles because I don't want to pay $200.00+ for one.

Regards,
Mark

Very nice knife. Much healthier and cheaper than other addictions out there, so I'd say you made a great choice.

+1 on the Knifebright! A long-pull clip #15 is a winner for sure, but their knifebright is tops. I've a hayin helper with kb covers, and it's proven to be surprisingly tough, scratch-resistant, and the glow lasts a long time. Congrats, and I hope you get a lot of enjoyment from it.

Hey - Thanks all for the support. Y'all are a big hearted bunch, even if it is just enabling of a different kind ;) But at least with this jones at the end of the day I have something to use and cherish rather than the alternative... which is to lose everything. And maybe its actually healthier for me in another sense, as I'll be eating lentils and beans for the rest of the month now.:D Well better go start the pot boiling. Cheers

Lemmy Caution,

I know the feeling well. This one called to me in the middle of the night for months. I finally found one and scooped it up immediately. I normally rotate my traditionals daily throughout the week but I carried this for over a week.

I have the same knife but in Ivory Bone. The simplicity is very satisfying.

As for the Nifebrite, great choice, I got a Sheepfoot Scout in that and I've been full of childish glee watching it glow, a tonic (some gin with it too would be nice...):D:D

Ah very nice! I'm very pleased I held out on the Barehead version. I hope they do another run in this manner. A Barehead Ebony would be nice. I have this GEC12 Toothpick in Smooth White Bone. I can't resist mentioning I picked it up on the bay for $17 bucks in the Tube with just a few pepper spots and a slightly off centered blade. slices like nobody's business. Its funny it was the first time I searched there for a Tidioute and probably the last time I'll ever get one for such a steal.

Again apologies for the terrible quality of pics. I'm making a resolution to photograph all my knives with a high quality camera or scanner.

That Toothpick was a sensational bargain!

Tell me about it. I didn't sense much love for the pattern on here, at least not for GEC's version so I've never showed it. Then I saw KC had been carrying his Coats Toothpick exclusively for over 6 years and I decided to bring it out. Really does ride in a jean pocket fantastically.

May have also been I just got my first Laguiole and wanted to appreciate their similarities.

Congratulations to you on channeling your probably ample creativity and passion in a direction of your own choice.

Plus, that's a beautiful knife.

Great choice! I got one knife in nifebrite - a #15EO Scout and I love watching it glow at night :p

Willgoy, what model is the fixed blade above? That looks like a really handy size, and I bet it performs as well as it looks.
