Well, I figured out why my 1760 RDSW won't center.

I love the knife but the fact that I can't get it centered has been bugging me. Then I noticed that the blade isn't symmetrical. It's obvious that the swedge on top is off, but so is the whole blade. So, should I send this back to Kershaw for correction? (Will try to get a picture but my camera's sort of crummy.)

My blur's blade is uneven too. There is too much/little of metal on one of the sides. So one of the sides always rubs the handle. I haven't cared since it's a user, but I'm not sure if Kershaw would be able to do anything.

Maybe they'd exchange it for their next Skyline American sprint run? You know, in blue stonewashed or something? :-)

I'm having a lot of trouble understanding what is being said, if there is more metal on one side of the blade edge it means it was ground uneven as most knives are from the factory. Every knife I have set up on the wicked edge with exact angles has had this issue to some degree. Blades are just a block of metal until they grind an edge on it so It should have nothing to do with centering.

Not the edge, but the spine, or I think in his case the entire thing.

Is it like an uber blem? Some unnoticeable thing triggers a knife being marked a blem, I have never heard of something that major sneaking past... There would have to be an error while the blade blank was being machined.

My Blur's swedge is ground uneven, but it's not a blem.

Well the 1760rdsw was limited so he can't get a replacement but if I ever had a knife that was still production and experienced this I would contact KAI and ask for a replacement. I am sure they would have no problem doing it.

I know they would replace it, but it was the first knife I ever bought, so it has somewhat sentimental value to me.

No, it's definitely not a blem. It's a sprint run. I wish I could find my hi-res camera. Will see if I can get a decent picture with my Android tablet. Basically the only way to get the point centered pushes the blade so far over that it's rubbing on the metal liner on one side with a big gap on the G10 side. The swedges are also asymmetric. One starts further toward the tip and is deeper than the other one, which is both shallower and shorter. I can't tell for sure if the whole blade is like that but it probably is because of the rub on the liner when the point is centered. Drove me nuts until I figured it out.

Maybe it's not a flaw but a feature, like a double-die penny? Worth more because of rarity or something...
