Well, I finally built my own slipjoint, a "scagelbuster"

I've started knifemaking wanting to build my own folders....(any kind) but not having the guts to start on one of those right away I decided to do fixed blades first. For the past three years that's been my focus, just getting the basic techniques down.

As I learned what I like in a knife though I also learnt that my favorite kinds of folders were slipjoints. So for my first folder. I spent a couple of weeks building something like a cross in between a scagel folder and a sodbuster. And so I present to you, the scagelbuster:

I'm quite happy with it for a first attempt. Still some bladeplay but I should be able to work that out in the next generation.

Nice work! Your knife turned out very well - thanks for the pictures and I look forward to more pictures of your next works.

Hi Alexander!

Impressive work! What a great looking knife. I really like it.

Kind regards

Congrats! There's a whole lot of satifaction in carrying and using something that we have
made on a daily basis, especially when its a tool like a knife
Ken.

Fine workmanship on that one. A really nice knife and it must get some compliments from your friends.

Nice work. I love the blade hole for the pull. The wood handles look great as well. I'd love to have this talent; to build and carry something I've made.

Nice! I'm sure Trevor will be by shortly to try and buy it from you :D

Thank you all for the very kind words.

Sometime in the future I'll offer them up for sale. But not now. This one still needs a couple of kinks worked out in the next generation before I deem it good enough to sell to someone else.

I do really enjoy carrying something I made though. Gives a lot of pride.
