Well, I hope the Micarta inlays are as nice as I imagined...

'cause I just ordered a small from KnifeArt. Planning on moving forward with my Insingo handle swap. Crossing my fingers, because neither the photos or knife description on KA say it has the "IDAHO MADE" stamp. Sure do hope it's clean. I guess I'll know in about a week and a half.

As far as all of my Sebenzas go whether it be micro, plane, Lisa Unique, Computer graphic and wood the micarta is my favorite. It's a EDC user. I LOVE the feel of the micarta and combine that with the stonewashed blade its perfect.

It will have the Idaho made stamp, the photo they use is an old one. The stamp isn't that bad though.

Micarta is the best for a user imo. I don't believe you will be disappointed. Btw, its a feel that gets better with time and use. I can't wait to see the finished knife.

There was a large micarta that had a Insingo blade for sale on another forum, got really excited but missed it. The guy who was selling it said he just did a blade swap. Man it looked good.

I called CRK about that combination, and was told it is a possibility that they will make them.

Be careful switching blades. Make sure the Insingo blade will fit before you take them apart.

Sounds like a great idea though.

Isn't switching blades considered a sin?

Some people try to claim that, saying each blade is hand fitted to the lock scale. We'll see. If CRK won't sell me a Micarta Insingo, they leave me no choice but to make one myself.

Why wouldn't it fit? There's no modification done to the Insingo handles in comparison to regular handles. And how do I make sure they'll fit without taking them apart? If it doesn't work, I'll just have to decide if I want an Indingo with plain handles, or if I'll settle for a regular blade so I can have the micarta inlay. I'm thinking in the end, I'm going to have one knife, and it will have micarta, no matter what blade it has inside.

They will sell you one, just not right now.:D

Well, the email I got from Heather at CRK said she didn't know when or if they'd even offer it, so I didn't feel like waiting for something that may never come. I already waited a few months longer than I wanted. I mentioned doing this back in November or December, and folks kept telling me to just wait until January when the Insingo will be sold direct. I waited, and then was highly disappointed when I got the response I got from Heather.

I talked with Heather and Anne at Shot Show. They are well aware that people want the insingo with micarta inlays.

I have a feeling there is more to this then they are telling us. This is just my guess, but there might be some sort of contract that hasn't expired with knifeart on the exclusiveness of the insingo.

Seconds already! lol ;)
Your done for!

Yeah, but only because I needed the scales. The reality is, if the scale swap goes as planned, the plain jane model will end up on the F/S forum. I just can't see keeping two small Sebenzas. Now, that being said, I'm not ruling out the possibility that I'll purchase a large Micarta or Umnumzaan Tanto at some point, but for now, one small Sebbie is enough for me. I already have more knives than I can reasonably use, so it's time to look at my collection and decide what to get rid of. Need to offset the cost of carrying around a $400 pocket knife.

Well, the fact that you can buy an Insingo direct from CRK goes against the exclusive rights thing. At any rate, there's a perfectly logical solution.... Start selling Micarta Insingos to KnifeArt. They already sell lefties and double thumbstud options. Why not offer the Micarta, or hell, even unique graphic models?

I just purchased a large 21 w/ micarta inlays 1/2 serrated at Cutlery Plaza in
CA. There is no Idaho Stamp on this one. I would have prefered the plain edge
but this is the only one they had in stock. Im just too impatient I guess. Can
you purchase a replacement Insignio blade from CRK direct? Once I get this
blade switched Ill have my perfect EDC blade.

The front scale will fit no problem. The lock scale may or may not work. Each blade is hand fitted to the lock face. I realize that you are anxious to get a micarta insingo and CRK realizes there is a market for such a knife. For some reason and I'm sure there is a good one, they are not offering one right now. I think your best bet is just to wait until CRK comes up with one. Just enjoy your insingo as it is. If you mess with it you will void the warranty and may end up with a messed up knife. Patience my friend, patience. Find peace in the simplicity of the plain.;)

CRK will not replace the blade for a Insingo blade, already tried that option as well.

We'll see in about a week. Worst that can happen is it don't fit right and I put the two knives back together and sell one of them. I'm not too worried about CRK warranty. Never used a warranty for any knife I owned in the past, so I'm hoping my most expensive knife, built to the "highest tolerances" will not have any issues any time soon.

Higher tolerances mean that the knife (as built) will work, but also reduces the interchangeability of some pieces, namely the lockbar and blade.
