After all the BK-9 threads and my own BK-9 or BK-5 issues I ordered the 9 and today it came in while I was at work. Naturally I wandered over to pick it up over lunch. Brought it back to work and opened it up. Other than the middle bolt being loose it and the blade rattling a lot in the sheath it was perfect and came shaving sharp.

First thought was "Dang...this thing is bigger than it looks in the pictures (or maybe I'm a hobbit). Naturally everyone came over to look at it and say "What the heck are you gonna do with that thing?". What am I NOT going to do with it...

Got home, took care of the chores and then decided to see how large the sheath actually was. On my belt it comes down to my knee!?! Okay, I'm short, gotta grow some more fur on my feet and change my name to Bilbo.

Anyways, wonderful piece of hardware and I can't wait to take it into the field. I'm sure I could split a deer's pelvis with this thing if I was so inclined.

My only question is about the front pocket sheath. I'm assuming that it is for a Remora since my BK-11 didn't fit. I searched but couldn't find any information on it. I've seen the mod threads about pulling the BK-9 liner to heat and shape it. Has anyone moded the front sheath plastic to fit a BK-11?

Thanks for listening...

Very happy!:)

Be careful pulling the liner as it is stitched on both sides.

Sqoon added a necker to his, I think he had an altoids tin in between to add enough space to unsnap the beast.

You could also buy a bk 11 for such tasks. The 9 used to be offered with the 11. But isn't anymore. One of my 11s always has a place at the 9s side, case there are just some things I don't wanna break out a 9' blade for.

Yeah, there are "ears" on each side of the liner for the big knives. The remora liner is stitched at the bottom.

Oh, we need pic's bro.

Here is what that liner looks like on the inside and an 11 for reference

Could potentially be done but you'd likely need to put your own insert in.

Yes,yes, there will be pics. WIMC, thanks for the great pic, that displays it more easily than words. The BK-11 and my Buck Vanguard have the exact same blade shape so pulling the old and making a new insert would allow me to carry either knife.

You must be a giant of some kind, on my belt it drops BELOW my knee...

Yeah, I'm happy.

Good pickup, me loves some BK9.

D'oh and Durn it Nick! I'm a certified tester manager and a six sigma green belt...I HAVE to please everyone and the product HAS to be perfect! I just can't settle for less. Guess I better start saving up for a 5...but you better start figuring out how to make a crazy cool sheath for it. :D

Hehe the 9 does make quite a first impression. A buddy of mine refers to it as "your sword"

The sheath rattle bugs me a bit, but I haven't gotten around to fixing it yet.

Great knife, very nimble for something so large.
