For those who don't remember, I left for USAF basic training about 10 weeks ago. (I got held over another week after completing basic to have my wisdom teeth cut out.) It wasn't easy, but it was fun sometimes. I am now an AB (airman basic) and will be an A1C (Airman 1st class) in March. I miss swinging a hammer and pounding hot steel though. Can't wait to get back into it when I'm done with tech school. Right now, I can only design them though. I'll probably put up a few sketches in a few days when I'm settled in more. Its been a crazy week for me. Right now, I just want to sleep. But I've got to get some things done so sleep will have to wait.

I start my tech school classes in one week and can't wait, even if they are night classes.

Good for you! What is your MOS?

Charlie Mike,
Air Force doesn't have MOS they AFSC's, Air Force skill codes. That and better food, treatment, and living conditions than the Army. Not that Army food is bad but they definitely beat us in the other things that make life bearable hands down.

My grandpa told me the Army was "the most f'd up outfit I've ever seen" :D

I'm an aircraft mechanic. The food is awsome here. Even in basic. Grilled cheese on sundays, fried chicken, spaghetti, pizza, and all the good stuff. As for living conditions and treatment, well, Army basic trainees do yoga while I had to run about 5 miles every other day and do around 180 situps, 160 pushups, and other calesthetics the other days, except for sunday.

Congratulations on completing your Basic training. Is it still done at Lackland AFB? I went through there back in the dark ages myself.:D

I hope you have a rewarding career, wherever it sends you. Thanks for serving.

Yep. Still at Lackland. In the same damn dorms too. Probably in the same damn beds as well.
