Well fellas, I did it. I ordered my first Chris Reeve knife. It's a Shadow IV from knifeart. I may have to sell a knife or two to feel better about this purchase. I think this is the most expensive single knife purchase that I've done! I know, some of you may laugh at that, but I'm still in college, what can I say! Well, I'm looking forward to getting it!

I skipped a lot of meals in college to get a great pair of speakers (KEF 104.2, for you 80's audiophiles and Windham Hill fans). I still listen to those speakers almost daily, and one look at me and you'd know I'm not malnutritioned . . . :o

Great move -- you won't regret it. And welcome to the club!

Congratulations ! I started my CRK collection with a One Piece Knife as well. Welcome To The Family !!!

Congrats!

You will really appreciate it because you gave up something for it.

excellent my friend!

post pictures when you get it.

it should be a great knife. let us know how you like it.

when you see what that company can make, you will want more CR knives, i guarantee it.

use it like you stole it!!

all the best. )

The Shadow IV is my latest CRK and will likely be my only one-piece. I love it.

I'm in College as well, and I empathize. I own three CRKs, and sometimes that requires living like a monk for months here and there to recoup your budget.

It is indeed more precious if you suffer for it; I too have a handful of other (great) knives - Emmerson Endura, Ti-Lite, 710 - that I've been trying to sell since I just don't use them anymore, and of course the extra fifty would feed me for a week. I think my collection is about to be culled.

Hope you like your Shadow, cause it will follow you wherever you go. :D

by the way, why did you choose the shadow? :)

Well, I'm a big fan of spear points. I really would prefer no top guard, but if this ends up being the only one-piece that I ever get (I assume secondary market prices will shoot up as time goes on), I decided that even if I got the Mountaineer II, I would always want the Shadow IV. Also, the size, a 5.5" blade, is a size that I like for all around use. I have some similarly sized knives that I really like (Swamp Rat Ratmandu, Scrap Yard S5). I'm sure I'll notice pros and cons to the design, but I'm not too worried about that. With only one one-piece, I don't think I'll have much to complain about! I can't wait for it to arrive!

Ah hah! It came today! My first Reeve knife, the Shadow IV! I love it! The craftsmanship is fantastic! Pictures later today!
