I tried to post this yesterday evening, Sunday(?) yea that's right, I think, and couldn't keep my eyes open nor my mind clear enough to say what I needed to say coherently which led to the initial problem to begin with. I hope that makes sense.

Needless to say with my little girl's situation along with my pain med changes this month, still getting used to that, my sleeping cycle has went completely and totally awry.:(
It's hard to keep my days straight, let alone my days and nights. I'm like an infant that has their days and nights mixed up!!!!:(
And It IS Frustrating as Hell!!!!

Friday night I was up until 3:00 a.m. Saturday morn, slept in until 9:30 a.m. Saturday morn and thought maybe things were working out, but then was up until 5:00 a.m. Sunday morn and slept in until 9:30 a.m. once more. I was having a real hard time staying awake all day Sunday and shouldn't have been messing with anything sharp, Especially a Heavy khuk blade sans tang.

I had given it to a Bro who was gonna weld it back together for me, but he walked West before he got around to it.:(
Somehow in the interval the tang was lost and I picked up the khuk blade, Big Hanuman, and was studying it and thinking that I would take it to my workroom to see if I had some high carbon steel thick enough to weld on it.
And well Hell, before I could get up I went dead asleep and dropped the heavy Hanuman blade!!!!
I am so very fortunate in that somehow it went point down between my third and fourth toe on my left foot. Somehow the top of my third toe was scratched just a little, didn't bleed but red, but the edge caught the inside of my fourth toe at an angle and cut right in.
I jumped up with a loud, Sunnuvabitch as I was as instantly awake as I was instantly asleep!!!!
Barb screeched, "WHAT" in that voice all of our ladies use when us men do something stupid and they suddenly realize that we've done it yet again.
I told her that I dropped my khuk and it had cut my toe. I'm not gonna repeat what she said next.

Anyway a trip to the Minor Emergency Med Center was made where after a two hour wait I was blessed with Four, that's 4, stitches in my toe.
We're both thankful it wasn't any worse as after all I could've lost a few foot digits over this ordeal.

One good thing, I hope, is that I went to sleep while Barb was watching the end of the NASCAR race yesterday evening around 8:00 p.m. according to Barb, was up at 1:30 a.m. and took my meds went back to sleep about 3:00 a.m. until 4:30 a.m. and even though I'm up earlier than I wanted to be I am starting to hear the recliner calling for me so maybe a couple of more hours are in the off'ing.
One damned thing about it though is that I'm not gonna touch any more knives while I'm in a state like the last few days and it ain't all on account of what Barb says she will do to me if I do either.

Good point Yvsa, a fellow needs all his wits about him if he's to be handling knives, guns, automobiles, women, or anything else inherently dangerous.;)

Sarge

p.s.: I'm glad to hear the damage was minor as opposed to having to rename you "Eight Toes Runs Crooked" :D

Glad to hear it was a minor accident! I hope things get back to "normal" for you soon. When my grandchildren were young, I always seemed to cut my self working, usually with my pockect knives. My one grandaughter would make me take my knife out of my pocket and give it too her to hold beause I wasn't able to use them properly.:D

Glad to know it didn't amount to too much of a disaster. I can identify with the sleep confusion and pain meds. It's so embarrasing to fall asleep in the recliner and start drooling all over and then the kids bring their friends in:rolleyes:

women, or anything else inherently dangerous

We're dangerous? :D

Me too Sarge, but "Eight Toes Runs Crooked" is still much, much better than "Two Dogs.";) :D

Yvsa my friend, glad that you got off light. We all need to be reminded occaisionally what sharp, heavy objects will do.:(

Glad both names don't fit the bill here!
And that injury was minor.

Good thing Barb's there to keep an eye on you!:D ;)

Ysva, you take care of yourself. :)

Glad you are OK but what a close call!

I think your problem is you know how to SHARPEN knives! Send all of your K's to me and I will fix that promptly. :D I've seen butter knives sharper than my handy work.

Maybe Bruise could help too. :D

Glad you're okay, Yvsa. I'm amazed I still have everything attached with all the times my mind isn't watching my hands.

Bruise, how about brass toed slippers? I seem to recall that you once said the only use you'd found for the brass chappes on khuk sheaths was finger puppets. Granted, you'd have to hold your toes kinda close together...

Yeow! Glad to hear you're okay. The last time I feel asleep in my chair was with a thermos cup full of hot coffee. Just dozed a bit, then must've tipped the cup, right into my lap. That'll wake ya up in a hurry!

Maybe we'll call you "Dozing with knives.";)

Take care, Yvsa.

Keith

I'd give Yvsa hell for it, but then you're talking to someonewho fell asleep standing up and broke his leg while I was stopped and asking myself if I'd turned off this that and the other a minute ago.:footinmou :footinmou :footinmou

Yvsa, glad to hear that the damage is minor, especially when you think about the size of that blade. Thank goodness a good woman is around...she can help you toe the line. :D

Thanks, Sarge. I'm saving this in my "Favorite quotes and good writings" file. Being more aware of this basic principle, which I know only too well, would have saved me numerous misadventures involving one, or more, of the four items mentioned.

In fact, I think I'll print it, in red, and tape it on my bathroom mirror so that I will be sure to see it at the beginning of every day. I'll tape it right beside the one that says, "God, or whatever, please, just for the next 24 hours, please, please, help me keep my big mouth shut".:p

 I'm glad to hear all the little piggies stayed home.
Here's to a speedy recover.
Regards,
Greg

Yvsa - I don't know what to say ! Part of me wants to take the mick but the other part says don't.

Get better soon and I hope you heal up well.

:D

Some say that sleepiness is a greater cause of car accidents, than alcohol. Glad to hear youre safe Yvsa. Heal quick.
