I was over at Head-Fi forums reading about how to burn in headphones. Long story short, I downloaded some tracks of pink noise to play to burn in. Then I started watching a movie when I noticed all these errors. Unfortunately, I didn't have AVG on at the time. Soon after, I realized I was infected with malware/Trojans/viruses whatever, I don't know. I ran a scan with AVG but it was acting up too. I'm not sure whether the malicous software got to it. THEN I get a message about my system files being corrupt and asks if I want to fix it, of course I press yes. Then a random "antivirus" pops up and starts running a scan. I start tripping out because I've never had an infection this bad before. I try to run a system restore but the comp freezes up, I restart but it freezes at the welcome screen too. Now I'm in the process of a system recovery, if that doesn't work I might wipe my harddrive and reinstall my OS.

This is where you guys come in. I need help. I have no idea what to do. Before I wipe, is there anything I should try to get rid of it? If the restore doesn't work, and I decide to whip my hard drive, does anybody know any good guides to set up a fresh PC? Thanks in advance.
BTW, I'm posting this on my iPod touch, so you can imagine how long this took to type out. I'm tired, I need to sleep on this.

I think the first mistake was not running spyware or antivirus software when downloading stuff. The bigger second mistake was clicking yes on virus related pop ups that prompt you to fix something. That is the attacker and you told it to have fun with your pc. You'll need to find what's on there and clean it out. A lot of guys on here will tell you to go into safemode and try to run any scanning software that will download.

I have had good luck with smit fraud fix run in safe mode to remove crap like this. It is a free download.

I need a program to burn-in my new Grado SR-80's. Could you give me a link to that pink noise program so that I can start burning them in tonight while I watch a movie.
Thanks.

Grado's!!! damn those are nice cans!

you can go the cheap route and set your FM radio so there is major static, then run it thru the phones for a week. Tis the poor mans method

If you have another machine, look for F-Prot antivirus, it is one of the better ones that can run off the boot, so you make a disk, and it starts before windows, might be enough, but at this point I can really only hope you had your important stuff backed up.

I wiped my hard drive and started from a clean slate. I was planning to do it anyways, but this incident forced my plans. Luckily, I use this computer for basically surfing the web and playing some games. I had some old documents but my friend can send me a copy of his. Took half the day to download and reinstall some programs but thats about it.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, or MBAM, from the following location and save it to your desktop:

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Download Link

Once downloaded, close all programs and Windows on your computer, including this one.

Double-click on the icon on your desktop named Download_mbam-setup.exe. This will start the installation of MBAM onto your computer.

When the installation begins, keep following the prompts in order to continue with the installation process. Do not make any changes to default settings and when the program has finished installing, make sure you leave both the Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware checked. Then click on the Finish button.

MBAM will now automatically start and you will see a message stating that you should update the program before performing a scan. As MBAM will automatically update itself after the install, you can press the OK button to close that box and you will now be at the main program.

On the Scanner tab, make sure the the Perform quick scan option is selected and then click on the Scan button to start scanning your computer
