I have been working on a trade with a local archery pro shop. I fell in love with the new Mathews Z7 Xtreme. So Ray the owner said he would work out a deal trading knives for him to sell in his shop. Well I have been reading how the Xtreme Tactical was 6-8 weeks out and had decided on a bow in lost camo. Well I decided to stop in at the shop today just to see what was up. Well I walked in and look what he had!

A few minutes later the display looks like this.

A couple hours later it looks like this on my living room floor:eek:

And here she is with her big brother. A Mathews Reezen

And here is a pic of my first shots at 40yds. Did not even have to adjust the sights from the pro shop.

Stats on the Xtreme, 29"dl, 70#, 28" axle to axle, 330FPS IBO speed.
Stats on the Reezen, 29, 70, 32" axle to axle. 335FPS IBO Speed

It is a Mathews single cam bow with parallel limbs. The single cam makes it fast and smooth without the timing problems associated with dual cam bows. The parallel limbs greatly reduce the shock associated with standard limbs. All the force is going straight up and down rather than forward. The Xtreme Tactical (black bow) is so quiet. The loudest noise is the arrow hitting the target. They are really fast without going super heavy draw weight. Very Accurate bows also. They are pretty well tricked out but still lots of fun.

Very nice! Reminds me that I have to get my bows out, since prime shooting season is just around the corner.

Also it has a very short Axle to Axle. This makes it even better for shooting from a blind, out of a tree stand or packing it into the wilderness.

I used to own a Mathews Solo Cam and I loved it. It got stolen and I never got back into archery again. I did kill two bucks and a doe with it though. Congrats on the new bow!

A/C, those shots want to make me get back into bow hunting. I had a PSE & Jennings Super T stolen out of my home about 15 years ago, never replaced them, and just never really felt like bow hunting again. Great looking equipment, the technology in this hobby has taken off in the last 10-15 years as much as the I/T field has.
Hope you find all the time you can to get out to enjoy it . . .
Be safe.

I was heavily into archery in the early 80's. Got my first "real" bow and shot almost every day. When I was transferred in 1984 I did not have a good place to shoot. So I wound up giving my bow away and all my gear. Last year I inherited some $$ and decided to get a new one. I about crapped my pants when i walked into the shop after 25 years out of the sport and saw all the bows. I had read up on the Mathews bows and knew I wanted one. So I researched the style of bow and picked one up. It is GREAT. I absolutely fell in love with this new bow. It is even more forgiving than my larger one. It shoots so smoothly and quiet it is hard to believe. YES technology has made huge leaps from the last time I shot. You need to get back into this sport, it is a real hoot.

Yes, there are days I really miss it. I still have a Bear recurve bow my dad gave me when I graduated H/S in 1969. But it is a wall hanger now, almost afraid to even think about stringing it. Maybe when the handgun, fishing, & ESEE addictions calm down, it could make it's way back to Ohio. Where are the best info. sites or books to research now? Something like this might be what I need to take my mind off the 4 GLOOMIS rods I "need" for this spring . . . . :)
Be safe.

I found the Mathews Forum http://forums.mathewsinc.com/?sid=0dcc9e750f95531643dd5fd6c54dcc16

They talk a lot about Mathews and Mission bows. They do talk a bit about others, Hoyt and such. I have heard of another forum, archery talk, I have not visited but they don't like Mathews owners there. More into the Hoyt and PSE. One nice thing about Archery is the ammo is re-usable. But then if you hit an arrow it can be expensive. I wound up getting my first Robin Hood today. It was kind of neat but that's $20 down the drain.

Yup. Went to the range to compare how the two shoot. I was trying my Reezen and not doing too great but then SWACK this happens.

I don't mind doing that this time. But I think I might start shooting at different spots on the target. It could get really expensive. By the way, the Xtreme shoots like a dream. Getting much tighter groups.

Mathews Bows are right on the cutting edge of technology. They have a radical design that performs extremely well. At the top of the pack as far as I am concerned. 2 problems arise when looking for a Mathews bow, one is trying to decide which one is best for you, second the sticker shock. But the price is well worth the investment. They hold their value probably better than any bow out there.
