Although not a customer of HI yet, I wish to soon be, and would like to ask the following question: Which HI Khukuri packs the most punch for the lowest price? I'm looking for something that doesn't have to be pretty, but it needs to do some fairly heavy chopping, as described on the warranty , Field Use. I've been looking at the KLVUK, and seen a few go on the DOTD's for amazing prices.

You've just defined the KLUVK in a nutshell. For heavy chopping a CAK is a great choice. Welcome to the fold.

Kvluks are definitely the best for the price, as you dont pay for sheath or karda or chakma just blade, very well made, highly advise getting one if you can, otherwise a Chiruwa ang kola or ww 2 i hear get lots of good camp knife reviews

Cool cool, that's what I was thinking. I'll probably make a sheath myself if I ever get to it. I'll keep an eye out for the DOTD's, and when I get two cents to rub together, snatch one up if I can.

next time one comes around if I am there first I will ems for two darth and you can get it from me if you dont get it from the dotd ( as I am online at work midday)

I'll probably wait for a blem, as I said, it doesn't need to be pretty, just needs to function and take a beating like a champ.

Although the KLVUK gets the job done and doesn't have to be pretty, there happens to be a thread from earlier today describing how Ndog prettied up his KLVUK. He gave it a great look while preserving the rough and ready attitude of the blade. See http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1143832-Dude!-I-Pimped-My-KLVUK!

If you go for a CAK later on, give some thought to the desired weight. Depending on your size and fitness level some of the heavier CAKs can be a handful, especially for lengthy use or hiking.
