Well, I've done something I said I wasn't gonna do

I pulled the trigger and purchased a Small Insingo from Knife Art. After having my hopes all but crushed of being able to order a Micarta inlay Insingo directly from CRK, I told myself I was just going to pass on the Sebenza all together. I just find myself continuously going to Knife Art and drooling over the Insingo for some reason. If they had a Small Micarta in stock, I would have very likely ordered it as well, and done a handle swap, but they don't.. I guess at this point I'm just going to decide if the Insingo is everything I've hoped, and if so, then I'll consider purchasing a Micarta and trying a handle swap. I know folks say you can't do that, because each set of handles is fitted to the blade. I just have a hard time believing it's not going to work. If I like the plain small Insingo, I will very likely do just that. I hope owning a small Sebbie this time will somehow be different than the last time I owned one several years ago. I guess back then, I was more into large knives. I think my tastes have changed a bit. At any rate, I already have more than enough larger 3.5" or better folders, so I really don't think I want a large Insingo at this time. Anyway, being in Afghanistan, it may be about 2 weeks before I get it, depending on where KnifeArt is located. I'll report back after I receive it. I really do wish it was a Micarta inlay though. I'm still baffled as to why CRK says they aren't set up to sell the Insingo in any other configuration than plain. They put inlay handles on Sebbie blades every single day. What's the difference with putting some on an Insingo blade?

I don't think you'll be disappointed. I also was hoping they would have made a micarta Insingo. I guess I'll have to settle for a plain small. That stinks because j think a micarta Insingo would be the cats meow.
I have become just like you in the fact that I'm leaning more and more towards smaller knives.

There's no reason that the insingo can't be fitted with inlays the scales are the same as the seb. It may have something to do with the agreement that knifeart has with CRK. All it would take is some time and effort. You could swtch out the front scale no prblem but the locking scales are had hand fitted so replacing that one might not work out so well. I really like my large insingo, I'm sure the small will ake you very happy. Wait until you you get it it may be just what you want. I like the utilitarian look and feel of the plain.

The knife was exclusive to KnifeArt for one year. CRK now sells the Insingo direct. I contacted them, and Heather told me, "Selling the Insingo to the public is a new item for us. We are not yet equipped to enter the variety of combinations on the knife you requested. At this time I am not sure how we will offer it. That being said, I can take your order if you provide me with the information requested in the attached order form, but I don’t know when we will (if we do) offer it. Let me know how you want to proceed." Like I said, it's confusing why they'd have to be set up for anything. How is it any different than putting together a Micarta Inlay regular Sebenza??

It sounds to me that Heather is being cautious not to promise you something that might not happen. I wouldn't consider the news "crushing", but I wouldn't hold my breath either.

I do believe that I'll have a large Insingo with double lugs, micarta inlay and S35VN blade one day.

She will be mine. Yes, she will.

The fellas at Knife Art are in Little Rock, Arkansas. I wouldn't be surprised if they expedite it for you.

Be sure to post pix when you receive it. . . .
