In light of all of the memorial threads we have had around her over the last week or so, (Chris, Dick, Brian) as well as the frustrating issues that Yvsa is having I thought I would spread a little good news.

My wife and I are expecting our first child:D:thumbup:
It's still very very early, and we haven't even had our first ultrasound, but I couldn't hold it in from you guys anymore. We are ecstatically happy and cautiously optimistic.

As many of you know, and were so, so, so appreciated for the well wishes and prayers, the last half of 2008 and the first part of 2009 were not super fantastic for my family. In August of '08 we had a massive arson fire at our place of business causing a lot of frustration and uncertainty going into the steep economic downturn. On top of that, Christmas of last year was pretty much assured to be our last with my wife's dad, Mike. On January 3rd he left this world. This was our first Thanksgiving without his kind laugh.

However, as things tend to work out in poetic fashion, we had a feeling over the holiday that my wife was indeed expecting. On black Friday, a test confirmed our expectations. This past Friday a blood test made it official. We go back on the 21st for the ultrasound. We're hoping to get the heartbeat on CD to give to my grandparents as a gift.

So, going into a very difficult time of seeing my father-in-law's big chair sitting empty as we pass out presents, at least we have some joy (great joy) in knowing that in spite of all the pain and heartache of the last year or so, we have so very much to look forward to, and we are SO grateful for this new life.

I'm just bursting at the seams:D

Very good news!! Keep us posted. Got a Khukri picked out for his or her first blade? ;)

Heber

lol Heber, I dunno yet. I guess it depends. Every boy needs a CAK (maybe one of those lil' black bladed ones around 13" OAL). A little girl, well she's going to demand style and class. Maybe a nice Siru or Salyan:D

Great news, Congrats!!!

That's just GREAT, Jake !!!!

And, just so you know, you've done the difficult part of raising a child. The rest is a cake-walk.

Sounds like your F-i-l is still there to me. Toast him and thank him for being part of your life.

I am very happy for you and your spouse. My best wishes. Kids are fun. Little girls make Dads better people.

Congratulations Jake!

Thank you for doing your part to nudge the genetic bell curve in the right direction. :D

Congrats to you and Mrs Jake.

So pleasing to get some good news for a change. :)

Lol only if the lil guy or gal is more her mama than me;) The Kelley's have a long colorful history of dirtying the gene pools of other more pristine family bloodlines though guile and charm.

Her dad's rules before I came along:
  • No motorcycles
  • No tattoos
  • No ear rings

...well I don't have any piercings :p

Good news to hear and to have come your way after the past year's lows.
Don't leave the Chainpuri out of the running-boy or girl.
Congratulations

:D :D :D

May the wonder of "the way it's supposed to be" make you smile the way I am at your news.

Congrats, Mr. Jake.

Mike

That's awesome news.
I'm going to recommend an 8" baby AK for the little one, first. You know, to use until the 4th or 5th birthday.

This is very true!

Congratulations!!

I am so happy for you. may you have a child for each khukuri you own!!
