Well made but more or less useless

Here are two blades I purchased at different times in my life. Both were well made, but one was so specific in its designed purpose so as to be useless for anything else. The other one went too far in the other direction, trying to be all things, so as to make it equally useless for any reasonable knife task. Both were experimented with, then 'shelf queened' by me as I looked for more practical implements. Have you had similar disappointments?

Just don't try to skin a deer, or whittle a flute with either one, total waste of time.

Actually, they both look pretty specialized to me.
