well now i know what the all the ASH fuss is about

i've found my perfect mid-sized knife (until i get an SFNO, that is). just got an SE from TurnerIII (who is awesome and excellent to work with) and i'm blown away by how badass this knife is. i wanted a thin one, but also with standard handles, so the SE was the only way to go, but now i may just invest in a fat one, because this thing is all kinds of awesome.

not only is the handle the comfiest of any Busse i've handled, but it's also got the thinnest, sharpest edge i've ever seen (especially compared to the stupefyingly fat edge of the FSH). the (what i thought were sharp) convex edges i put on my razor and badgers don't even come close to this sharpness.

the only thing i find odd is that compared to other knives, the tip on this one super thin, but it does start tapering earlier.

btw, how sharp is the fat CG ASH? i'm now very tempted to get one. as if i wasn't temped enough by all the pics people are posting. stupid addiction, i'm so broke and still thinking about more INFI . . . .

The fat CG ASH comes shaving sharp with a slightly toothy edge. You will love it.

just put a convex on this thing and now (despite it being a Busse) i have serious doubts about the edge holding up to anything more than light work. i'll have to go beat it to see . . . .

I sharpened mine on the Apex Edge Pro and although it is not anything like Justabuyer's HR it will push cut through paperback books. And phone books if I could find any more. And although it is much sharper now I chopped and pried with it quite a bit last night and the edge is perfect and still just as sharp.

But of course there is a point that the edge is TOO thin. It just depends on what it will be doing. :thumbup:
