Well, the sheath is a Schrade...

This started life about 60 years ago as a Cattaraugus 225Q US army knife. Somewhere along the line, it lost it's leather washer handle and steel butt cap. I pryed off the guard and went to work. The new guard is from Kovals supply, although I cut the top guard off and ground it down. The skull-crusher pommel came off an old Pakistan dagger. The handle is from an M7 bayonet. The sheath (here comes the schrade content!) is from one of the 140 series with the green rubber handles, although I had to pull out the inner plastic lining. Just a little project knife, killed some spare time, and gave me the chance to take yet another pic with my new digital camera.

Well Done.
The whole is now much greater than the sum of the parts!

And if anything happens to the sheath, you could always borrow one of Larry's socks. And use a magic marker to print Schrade (content) on the new "sheath".

Hope your auctions go better. Ever take any pictures of your models to help? :D

Larry's socks.. I never thought of that! 'Tactical' black or 'snow-camo' white? I gotta think about this.

Phil

Hey, those were my socks!!! Can't go stealing my idea. :p

Just kidding, guys....

Nice work, Phil.

Now I know what to do with all those leftover knife parts....

I bet my socks would be stiffer than the sheath shown.
You might not even need to add color to get the camo effect.
I have lots of orphaned socks from my sons room maybe I'll put them up on E-Bay as the new Schrade sheath.
He's off to college in Sept maybe then I'll find the missing sock's and who knows what else.
Hope all is well.
Phil, You been checking your bulk folder?

It´s good to see an old knife being brought back to life. You did a nice job on this one and it makes a fine contribution to the show and tell forum.

I can see how socks can be so good to keep knives, a baby sock will hold a small folder, a long skiing sock will hold a machete, many socks are shaped just right for a Khukri, socks come in many sizes, textures and colors. They can also be used to keep ping pong balls.

Don Luis......... :D :D :D

Oh Phil, have you named your creation? Margarita Special? :)

Bill

That is a dandy Tex it must be great to be able to create something like that it is an ability I seem to lack. Great job. I was just curious why would someone have stiff socks??? Oh well I guess it is good to still have something stiff. Once again well done Tex.

Lt,
We may have to open another thread with all the comments I see coming on the why's and wherefor's of socks.

P.S. Anyone have a C648 3rd Generation they'd like to trade for a LB7?
(Schrade content!)

It was a fun, relaxing project. I was inspired by some of you guys who had rehandled folders. I carried the knife to work for a couple of weeks, while it was under reconstruction, along with little files, emery cloth, ect. Whenever I had a moment, I worked on it. Much more satisfying for me than using power tools. The handles are still removable, as I drilled out the tang of the knife to accept the screws. I've etched my initials and date on the tang, so in future years it will not be mistaken as a 'theater-made' knife. I hate the thought of screwing around with Knife history (some people make a lot of money doing that).

"show and tell" forum... I like that!
Athletic socks as a Kukri sheath... I like that as well.
You guys are priceless.

Phil

Well, guys, Bill asked how my ebay auctions were going. Not good, so I have taken the step of fighting fire with fire. If other sellers are using models, then I have no choice but to step up to the plate.

Here we go...

Ebay

AND DOWN THE STRETCH THEY COME! ,

Phil, you have moved into the lead with that nice filly!

You mentioned in "The Body" of your description, that it has two (2) screw/nail holes.......
I "ASS"ume that is the sign you're talking about? :D

Schrade Content......Does she have a sister?....Errr, I mean do you have any Schrade signs similar to that 1 (ONE)?

Your various skills certainly put you on the cutting edge.

Best.

Bill

Sorry if some of you didn't get to see it, but my bikini model ebay item sold.
"Two screw/nail holes"... I didn't catch that when I wrote it!

Phil

I took it as all tongue on cheek!
:)
Off to soccer tournament

Glad you made that sale, Phil. Looks like you've got the new formula for success. Probably time for you to make an infomercial about online selling methods. :)
I was still trying to figure out how to ask my wife if we could make room for the sign and all. :footinmou
Oh, by the way.........what was the warranty on that last item? Just in case you come across a Schrade version, of course.
