So i was at work, and i was helping a guy load his truck and we needed to rope down some stuff to the top of his truck and out came a knife
of course, i asked to see it and low and behold guess what i see an old american old timer 80T i believe

anyways, long story short he offered to sell, i had $12 cash on me and he said, DEAL!
so i got me a little project to work on cleaning up. these are the current pics, i'll do some more pics after i finish cleaning it up

Guy said he had it for like 15 years or so ...

I love happy endings like that :D Seriously though, it's a passion of mine to bring old knives new lives!!! That's a sweet one there with a ton of mileage left in her

You done good my friend, you done good ;)

Ok, did my initial cleaning with a toothbrush and dawn and some hot water...got ALOT of gunk out
took some 0000 grade steel wool and cleaned the backsprings and 2 out of the 3 blades, the spey was just too rusted, i had to use a green scrubby pad and it took most of the patina off. So after the dawn shower i put her in a small tupperware bucket full of mineral oil to take her 24 spa bath and i'll re-clean her again tomorrow.

i've definitely noticed some pitting on the blades and a little on the backsprings, but nothing TOO bad. hopefully will have a few beauty shots in a couple days after i finish

my first refurbish:D

I hope he finds a replacement soon, and look forward to the before and after photos.

That's nuts why anyone would sell a knife that they have had for 15 years. Hey......good for you. Nice score. :)

Watch out my friend.....that 85 Clip and Texas Jack may get jealous.....

Great find! Looking forward to the after pics....

hehe i doubt it

1) i already got me a buck 301 which covers that size stockman
2) i really dont need 3 blades *shrugs*
3) i am more of a break things myself kind a guy than get something already broken in.

i dunno, was very spur of the moment, i kinda wish i had gotten a better look at her before i offered, but if she just doesnt float my boat, i may put her up for a giveaway, i am coming up on 2k posts here pretty quick :D

Great catch. One of the best patterns and best steel ever in my never humble opinion.

Aw heck, that thing doesn't need much cleaning at all. Run some hot water on it while opening and closing the blades to rinse out the joints. Drop some mineral oil on there. Sharpen it and start cutting things. The rust will take care of itself.

I sure wouldn't scrub on it with anything abrasive and risk losing that awesome patina. :)

But, but, but, but........you can't carry it! What happened to one knife until May? You're killing me man!

i wont be carrying it, i have more willpower than that :P
i havent even taken it out of the mineral oil bath yet, think its been like 3 days in there now lol

going strong here brotha, going strong!

That's a nice one. Schrade's 1095 will take an incredible edge, and hold it well. 12 dollars well spent.
