Somebody had to start this thread. Might as well be me.
I'm on the George Dickel Old No. 8 train right now.
Old No. 8, for those of you not in the GD loop, is harder to get these days. George Dickel actually went out of business for a while, which means that some years are missing from production. To keep the Old No. 8 supplies honestly (actually aged 8 years), they've reduced distribution of that spirit. Some of the No. 8 that you get might actually be aged 10 years or so. Whatever the age, however, it's limited to certain states for a while.
For some reason (higher production rates?), I was told during a tour of the GD facilities that the No. 12 supplies are just fine.
