Welp, dad lost his BK24...

Put foam in the sheath because he couldn't stand the sheath wiggle. It was his Christmas present alongside his CRKT Woods Chogan. He's still looking for it but he's in a pretty bad mood.

I just wish KABAR could figure out a sheath that still has all the holes of the current version but fits tight like an Izula..

Thankfully he found it. Had to destroy my mom's bobby pins to dig the foam out and the retention is still pretty bad even though it's back to how it was from the factory.

I love BK knives but the sheaths on 11/14/24's leave a LOT to be desired.

Sorry, I have to ask.
Are you sure you're pushing the knife in all the way (until it pops)? You shouldn't be able to read the BK11 print.

My sheath doesn't have any excessive play and the retention is strong.

I've had about 30 BK-smalls sheaths' pass through my hands and every single one of them have had as good if not better than my Izula.... If you want, email me. I think I have en extra BK14 sheath with good retention.

I'm glad he found it, loosing stuff sucks.....

I haven't had any issues with sheath retention on any of my beckers, but if you do, a heat gun (or hair dryer on high hot) can be used to pinch it down on the blade a bit.
It's not kydex, so it'll take more heat, and you'll need to be careful when working with it, but it can be done. As well, I've seen plenty of posts from people warming them in very hot water to make them pliable.
If it's still terrible to him, invest in a kydex sheath from Azwelke or 710 or one of the many other kydex benders on the forums. :)

Yep, going in until it pops. I'll try the hairdryer thing. Thanks for the offer, MM, if the dryer thing doesn't work I may have to take you up on it.

Yeah, you can mold them a bit. Just don't let it get too hot and get away from you. Baby steps. Slow and easy.
Otherwise, custom kydex is the ticket. I've been tickled with the trailbum sheath I got at a recent Gathering.
My BK-24 rides in it inside of my Becker bag.

This very issue led me to starting the kydex venture. I have a bk24, as does my dad, so once I finally get a grommet die I will be making use both a nice (hopefully) kydex sheath. I might even make a couple to sell if they turn out well.
Only problem is that the kydex that I got is .08 thick. Gosh dang its too thick. The sheath on my tops msk must be like... .04 or something, and its great.
But it will be tank like. I should have one done by the end of the week :-)

I'm using a kydex for my modded BK24 from Trailbum. I have a lot of faith in this sheath. I've not lost a knife out of a sheath yet that wasn't just my fault. Glad to hear your da found his.

Two of my favorite sheaths for my Becker BK-11 and 14 are from makers on this forum.

The leather scout sheath from Coyle Outdoors (Dexwithers) and Kydex neck carry or belt carry with a Tek Lok from Northeastkydex1 on ebay (trailbum)

This is what I did and it worked great and got rid of 90% of the rattle as well.

If the hair dryer suggestion doesn't work, I would contact Ka-Bar and tell them it was defective. That was very nice of MountainMist to offer you one of his sheaths; but if Ka-Bar gave you a bad one they should replace it IMO.

They were made by 710, they are Micarta. They are a tad thicker than the Ka bar Zytel and feel great in the hand.

I had no issues with the retention of the stock sheaths on either of my 14s. I think they're pretty good for the price of the knife/sheath. I'm more of a leather guy, and went with this scout sheath.

The hairdryer didn't work, but against my advice he took a lighter to it and actually ended up fixing it. :D Thanks everyone! :

I used a heatgun (gets hotter) for mine and it worked well. But I have since abandoned the stock sheaths for all my Beckers and went with Kydex or better Nylon.

I am really interested in a Dex leather sheath for one of my 24s though....but one of my 24s has the ESSE Izula micarta, and I'm not taking it off. Not sure if (without asking directly) Dex is/or would shape/ing his leather with those handles.
