So, I went to an air show yesterday, and there was a stand selling military surplus. Among the rusted metal and gunparts, I found a Wenger bayonet. So, I snapped it up, and it's in decent shape, actually. It's got a few dings and scratches, the tip is bent, and the edge is deformed pretty well in a few spots, but it's not rusted, and everything is intact save the belt frog.
Now comes the FUN part.... I need to fix this sucker up. The PROBLEM is that I can't sharpen this thing, I don't have NEARLY the skills or Equipment. I TRIED, trust me I did, but the coarsest stone I have can't get past the sheer width of the blade on this thing. I need help with it, which is what's brought me here: Does anybody here have any idea if Wenger will even work on this thing for me? and if not, can somebody help me or point me to somebody that can?
I HAVE emailed Wenger, but I haven't gotten any response from them as of yet. This is PROBABLY due to the weekend, but this thing is surplus, it's fairly old (at least '83) and I don't know if they'll even consider working on such a thing.
