Has anyone had experience with the new full-size Wenger Evo line of SAKs? The S557 looks good with its more modern ergonomic handles and the tool selection is great (to my tastes and needs), but I'm wondering if the tool quality is up to the Vic Swisschamp and/or Workchamp. I'm particularly wondering about the slipjoint pliers and the universal wrench. Thanks for any info you can provide.(And didn't I hear that Vic bought out Wenger not too long ago?).

Wishing all a Happy Thanksgiving.

look for my review in the forums. I have tons of Victorinox SAKs and the Wenger quality is right up there. No complaints.

Take a look at this review -

SAKs - Victorinox or Wenger

a tool-by-tool comparison of a Victorinox SwissChamp and a Wenger ToolChest Plus.

The Wenger EVO S557 - has far fewer tools/functions than the Victorinox SwissChamp -

or in fact the Victorinox WorkChamp

Of course there are advantages of having only the tools you really need - easier carry due to compactness and weight.
But I tend to regard both the Victorinox SwissChamp and WorkChamp as the "have-all" knives that I can carry when I know I may need the versatility, or numerous tools.

Some other direct comparisons that might be relevant -

SAK Pliers - Wenger or Victorinox?

SAK Scissors - Wenger or Victorinox?

Thanks, Vincent! These references are great! I'm debating the "only the tools (I think) I need vs. having them all" question. And I really like the fact that the Swisschamp has a magnifier, small as it is...But the Evo sure looks interesting if the quality is comparable.
