Arrived yesterday, bought it as a Wenger closeout. Victorinox kept three versions of the S557 in the Delémont Collection, so photographs are in order.

Victorinox Ranger for size comparison.

Ranger has two saws, S557 has pliers + wrench. They are roughly the same size: Ranger is 6mm longer, S557 is 4mm thicker (half of that from the wooden scales).

Some of the tools:

The pliers are slip joint which makes them more useful. According to sakwiki.com

The Universal Wrench is a blade tool that has a multiple size hex head wrench opening at the end. It is very useful for emergency bike repairs while on the road.

All the nail file lovers were waiting for this.

The file is less aggressive than Victorinox's 84mm equivalent, making it a better manicure tool but less useful for other tasks.

Awl, corkscrew and split ring are the only back layer tools. The awl is quadrangular with no edge or sewing eye.

This is more useful to me than the Ranger, but I prefer Victorinox's can opener and awl/reamer. Most likely I'll give it to my cousin and buy a Delémont with EvoGrip scales for less bulk.

I have something similar. Very similar actually but it was bought back in the early 90s at Eddie Bauer in Tulsa. It has the name in the handle on one side and the cross on the other. Both of those red scales came off years ago and I had wood put on it many years later by Dirk Potgieter. I had looked and looked at one time for another example with serrated scissors and a slip joint plier because when I sold dental equipment I was using those tools and the flat head, phillips head and more to repair and temp. hold over ADEC dental carts and more on my territory. It was my first pinch tool!
