I have seen both advertised as "The Genuine" SAK. So I'm just wondering if there is any difference between the two???

Victorinox has owned Wenger for the past couple of years. Both firms still do (and did for decades before) made knives for the Swiss Army, and they are both legit Swiss high quality makers.

There is some debate about which is better, but they are both good knives.

Both have been "official" suppliers, if memory serves Victorinox supplies more not that volume means much. I actually have never seen Wenger's in a store, or owned one, but to me Vic IS a SAK. Prolly won't go wrong either way but I vote Victorinox.

Actually, Wenger advertised as "the genuine" and Victorinox as "the original", the two had a mutual agreement over the use of the two words.

Victorinox's are usually a little better, but since 2005 they now own Wenger, so there may not be any real quality difference anymore since Victorinox makes both brands.

I bought my first SAK @ Kmart it was a Wenger and it had the lanyard. I prefer the Wenger because of the lanyard loop. I have carried many of the Vics, but I dummy cord my knife and flashlight.

I've found QC on vics were better in the past, though sense Vic has bought out wenger, I can't see either companys being much diffrent now. You can already see the influence from Victorinox in Wengers new products.

I owned a Wenger once, it was a good little knife. I also had a Victorinox as well, just as good, if not better. The blades were a bit thicker and the springs were lot more 'sprngier' if you know what I mean. It just seemed a little more heavy duty than the Wenger.

i gave away the only Wenger i ever had. i just didn't like it compared to the Victorinoxes i was used to. i haven't checked them out much since the merger or whatever though

i probably have ~15 Victorinox SAKs, i basically never go anywhere without one

i don't see how you could go wrong with a Camper, Climber, Compact or Classic

I like both, but EDC'd a Wenger for a few years with no issues. The reason I chose it over a Victorinox was due to the "pack-lock" feature, a lock option not offered on the similar-sized Vics. I think either would serve well, though.

I prefer Victorinox myself. They take a keen edge compared to the older Wenger's I have, however, my new Wenger I bought a few weeks ago takes an edge as keen as a Vic. JMHO

Vics just seem to have better "walk and talk" because maybe the backsprings are stronger.
And the Vic blades do seem to take a better edge than the Wenger blades.

But there are some things I like about Wengers...
I like how the bottle-opener/screwdriver locks when pressure is applied.
And I think that the Wenger can-opener works better than the Vic can-opener.

I have two Wengers and roughly ten or so Vic's. I like the Vic's overall a little better but do like my mid-sized locking main blade Wegner and its more leaf shaped blade a lot. If you like a particular knife buy it. Either are good knives at a good price.

I own and enjoy both but prefer Victorinox's blade walk and talk and handle configuration (on the plastic scale models).I'm thinking Wenger will be brought up a notch in quality now that Victorinox bought them.tom.
