I found a whole page of Wenger Ranger model knives at http://www.wengerna.com/browse/browse.jsp?cat_id=1&sub_cat_id=85

Is this a new line for Wenger? All show "out of stock" and I found no other listings on the web. Seems like they should get the pulse rate up for many on this forum.

They do commit the same sins as Victorinox. I want to see one with plain one-hand-opening blade, saw, scissors, awl, tweezers, and file. Adding a firesteel that slides into one of the scales and an LED light on the other would round out the "perfect" survival knife.

Yeah, their the new run. I think victorinox had a big part to play in the design this time around.

I saw those once and really liked them. I could have sworn I found one that had a plain blade, too (I also prefer the plain over the serrated). It really seems like adding a strong firesteel and LED wouldn't be all that difficult, but would vastly improve the knives overall. Guess we can dream, eh?

I guess perfect for me would be:

- plain OH blade (<4")
- saw
- firesteel
- LED
- tweezers
- screwdriver/can opener

I think that would be a pretty super combo. Scissors might be nice, but take up too much room.

I think the one handed blade is plain. I saw them at the shot show and I thought I remember them being plain edged. At least some of the models are plain edged.

Cool knife, I like Wenger cuz the company that distributes them in Canada is right across the street from my work and they have a wharehouse sale 4 times a
year and pay like 1/2 price or so. I'll just wait till the next sale and see what comes up.
