OK. Always owned Victorinox, and assumed them to be the best SAK brand. My parents got me a Wenger Serrated Master for Christmas, and Its blowing Victorinox away. I'm going to grind off the serrations, and this becomes my edc. Firstly, the main blade locks. Nice. Secondly, the pliars, and sciscors are designed better. Thirdly it has the features I want together, mainly, blade, sciscors, pliars and saw. Other important ones are the canopener (better built than on the victorinox, and screwdriver.

Anyone else have similar/opposing experience?

Seems like a can of worms has been found under the Xmas tree!

Wegner makes a good knife, enjoy!

I've never understood why you had to go all the way up to the Swisschamp to get saw, pliars, and sciscors together on a knife.

I've had a plain edge Wenger Master for about 2 years, it's a great combo of tools for outdoors.

i always felt the wenger reamer and can opener were inferior to the vic. other than that, fine knives. can't comment on the wenger pliers.

Strange. I found my can opener to be sharper and ground better. I liked the pliars better because they're ajustable, and the spring is tougher.

All this is JMHO.

The Vic handyman has all that.
Basically its a Swisschamp minus the hook degorger, magnifyer, and philips.

What I want is a smaller knife. This Wenger Master is good. Not some massive wondatool. Something the size of a Farmer, but with the main tools that get used.

A phillips is a good thing to have too. One complaint about this Wenger.

thanks for the thtread,I too have always owned a victorinox blade of sorts. but I was looking closely at a wenger(not sure of the model) but easy open model non-serration main blade..

The Vic Handyman is only slightly thicker than your Wenger serrated master knife. Same number of layers except with an added file layer.
Of course the Vic is longer (91mm) versus the Wengers 84mm.
I like the 84mm size slightly better myself but Vic doesn't make 84mm over two layers thick. I'd love a 84mm Vic Huntsman!
I'm more of a Vic guy but i'm not knocking your Wenger or Wengers in general ( i own 2 Wengers with a Ranger coming to me in the mail).
So your Wenger doesnt have a philips on the spine?
All the ones i've seen online seem to have a philips instead of a corkscrew.
Anyway sounds like a cool knife, enjoy!
:)

Mine has a corkscrew and no phillips.

I'm not trying to say Vic. sucks or anything. Just that I was suprised to find how nice this Wenger is.

Oh come on Andy, we read in-between the lines! I'll take all your old Vics please :D

but seriously, I'd like to see how more people feel about the two.
and pictures would be nice bro!
