Hello,
I'm wondering if anyone has any info on the hardness and/or steel composition of Wenger's blades. I've only ever had Victorinox SAKs up to this point, but Wenger's New Ranger line has caught my eye. The lack of info on the blade hardness is making me hesitate a little though.
I've read reviews comparing Wenger and Victorinox wherein some people felt Wenger's blades didn't hold an edge as well as a Vic; but of course no objective, scientific testing data is ever provided, just subjective opinions. If Wenger and Victorinox both provide official SAKs to the swiss army I tend to think the steel and tempering must be identical between the two, thus Wenger blades should be hardened to 56 Rc. But of course thoughts like this, which often make sense in one's mind have a nasty habit of not holding in reality!
Also, if anyone owns a New Ranger, can you tell me about the grind? I read somewhere that the main blade was hollow ground, instead of flat like is usually the case with SAKs. Is this true?
Thanks very much!
