The Swiss Clippers are probably selected for extinction, but you can still buy them for the usual discount. TSA confiscations turn up on the big auction site: no one collects them and prices are reasonable. Mine has "Watermelon Translucent Pink" scales, and a Midnite MiniChamp for size comparison:
Wenger Swiss Clipper vs. Revlon Nail Clip (old production).
Wenger is sharper, Revlon has more leverage: call it a draw.
Revlon has a wider clipper, 13 mm vs. 10 mm. With 23% more edge, it cuts thumbnails with three clips to Wenger's four.
Revlon has a nail file/cleaner; Wenger has a nail file/cleaner, scissors, knife blade, tweezers, toothpick. Wenger costs five times as much, but it does more — and my wife thinks it's pretty.
Wenger is probably out of production. Revlon has been out of production for years: the new ones (with crosshatching) are junk, but you can still find the old ones. No one collects Revlon Nail Clips.
Mine have the good ol' red slabs, but yeah, they're mighty fine personal groomin' equipment! As for the Revlon, you're also quite right about the old ones with the cross hatched thumb pad. WAAAYYYY better than today's standard!
