Just got a catalog and on the front is a Wenger Swiss army fighting knife (?); 9 inch blade; haven't had a chance/time to look at all the details but think it is about 49 bucks. Anyone know anything about them?

Got the same catalogue and wondered about that too... it seems like it is very similar to a "Swiss bayonet" that Cheaper than dirt used to carry for between 10 and 20 dollars..

Oh wait they still do, for 19.97:

Here's the 50 dollar one from Sportsman's Guide...

Looks like they tacked the Wenger logo on it and charged 150% of the price...

I got mine for $12. From Smokey Mountain.

They make a decent thrower, but are not sharpenable or usable as a knife.

I thought they looked a lot like the bayonet but isn't the blade shorter? Is the bayonet made by Wenger? Handle looks a little different, too.

Model 1957 Pattern Bayonet

Like the issue knife , the contract was split between Victorinox and wenger , I have a wenger , marked with a kind of W.

These were used thru the 60's up until the 80's.

They have 2 usable edges but unsharpened , they have a nice tip. feels comfy in the hand . very stabby.

I recall that these were the first stainless bayonet blades

Thats what I recall from some internet research a while back.

I havent sharpened mine yet , but have been told they sharpen up well.
