Does anyone have experience with the Wenger Teton? I love the Victorinox Tinker but I want scissors. I could get the Super Tinker, but Wenger has superior scissors AND a locking phillips (as well as a clip point small blade).

Could anyone give me a comparison or tell me if they have it and what they think of it in terms of fit and finish, durability, etc?

Thanks,
Dan

The Wenger screw driver/ bottle opener locks when you press in on it. The Phillips on mine dose not lock. The Wenger scissor spring is much better than Victorinox’s and the scissors are serrated. The Wenger scissors are smaller than Victorinox’s so they don’t work as well on easy to cut things like paper. I like the Wenger can opener better for opening cans, but you don’t get the little screw driver tip that Victorinox has. The Teton is about ¼” shorter than the Super Tinker.

On the downside, the Wengers seem to be slightly lower in quality than the Vics and the Wengers unedged awl is not nearly as good as Victorinox’s.

Dan,

On the teton, only the screwdriver/bottle opener locks. Neither the phillips head nor any of the blades lock. You can see it here:
http://www.wengerna.com/browse/product.jsp?prod_id=1245&cat_id=1&cat_name=Knives&sub_cat_id=18

I have the 60/40 serrated Adirondack (my EDC) and it has a locking main blade. It is 1/4" shorter than the regular sized Vics. I like the locking blade and screwdriver, but the awl had to get sharpened to function at all. Also, miss the screwdriver at the end of the vic can opener, but i think it's worth it for the locking main blade.
Here is a wenger with a locking phillips:

Thanks guys,
I must have looked at the "Patented locking screwdriver" on the list and attributed it to the phillips.

It seems now that the Victorinox Super Tinker has it beat in that tool selection. The Super Tinker will also be MUCH easier to find, especially in an actual store.

Have a good one,
Dan
