Used to go every week for yrs. I've slowed down now, since I live there and otherwise got into racing mtbs. A couple pics were posted in previous related threads.

Up in the Middle Prong wilderness in WNC. Lots of 6k balds in the area.

Love this pack. 2lb 2oz weight for a 60liter pack. Total load was around 17-18 pounds.

Some really old guy.

Intergal Designs MK1XL singlewall(waterproof breathable) mtneering tent.

Snowed hard a few times.

Cooking in the tent this morning..

..while watching out the door..

It was mid 20s* and windy, so I had breakfast inside:D.

Colt Mustang Pocetklite .380.

2 life long friends showed up just before sunset.

Clouds moved in then too.

The end

great pics KDucky. i really need some woods time. what is the pack you are showing?

Granite Gear Crown 60(They wanted to call it the Triple Crown 60 because the guy who tested the first prototype did the Big 3 all in 1 year=10,000 miles(AT, Pacific Crest, Continental Divide) with zero isuses. ..but had legal issues with the horse racing people. Thats pretty dang good for a 2lb pack. I have packs from Dana Designs, Osprey, Gregory, TNF, Arc'teryx. And this pack blows'm all away and weighs lesser then all but 1..and its a frameless ruck at 1lb 13oz.

What's the pyramid your buddies were using? My old OutBound knock-off of the Megamid is dyin'. Looking for something a bit smaller and lighter.

Since we're sharing fall hike pics... From central New Hampshire. Last trip before hunting season and ski touring...

I just noticed this prolly should've went in the wilderness Skills forum. Sorry, my bad. Mods, if you can move it, feel free.

The Golite has gone thru some changes since these guys got theirs. I think they got larger(booo). The Betamid uses ones trekking poles so you save some weight there. Its also smaller floor space(I think its 45sq ft) and lower for better performance in the wind. ..but less head space. The bummer about the Golites, is it need a fairly large area to place it. When theres 2 or 3, it gets tight when we camp up on a ledge/summit of some type.

Floorless rocks when bring'n a dog along. I usually bring one(dog), but wanted to use my singlewall for a change. Good in snow too.. Just pee in a corner when its 2* outside with howling winds:D.

Betamid

Optional floor w a Golite Hex.

Some pics in April when we stayed 7 days mostly above treeline in the Indian Peaks wilderness in the Rockies. I used the green singlewall that trip.

At the beginning 4 mile walk to the trailhead. Road was closed because of snow. I'm 2nd from right.

Where we had to park, 4 miles from where the trip should have started lol

At 11,600' in April.

My view as I enjoyed morning coffee and still in the bag.

endless snow thunder storms. Like 12-15 per day. Crazy.

Again, this was late April so we're on about 10' of snow here. My Intergal Designs singlewall(all waterproof breathable) with crampons, snowshoes, axe, etc. First night while heading up up up..

At just under 13k coming down from a nearby summit.

Fun trip. Glissading down the mtn when we could.

Me at the end of a slide. We did this often. Use the ice axe for a brake.

Awesome pics! I really love the gear choices too. I need to get a tipi floorless tent...
